If Boxing Did Away With "Super" and "Junior"

I don't think so. Less weight divisions would just give bigger advantages to people who are already big at their weights.

 

Yes. All it does is split up divisions and dilute what it means to be champion. 147 and 160 would be highly competitive divisions with mediocre divisions like 140 and 154. The Cruiserweight division also needs to go.

 

It would be more difficult for a champion to make an easy defense, but the amount of stalling out by contenders awaiting title shots would be no good.

 

Well the most celebrated 188 lb heavyweight champion , Rocky Maricano went 49-0 as a light heavyweight arguably. I never have seen the point of a cruiser weight division when they come to the ring as heavyweight's on fight night.

Thats just a division where sissies hide out at pretending to be fighters while watching the REAL MEN at heavyweight fight for world supremacy. Thats how that fake male model, David Haye, conned his way into a lucrative Klitschko fight without ever really having a hard fight.

 

YOu can fix that with same day weigh ins. Im all for cutting divisions and same day weigh ins. Also no more belts ffs!

 

It worked before. Less divisions would be less complex. I wish they only had one world title for each weight class

 

Deeper more talent rich divisions with fewer places to duck and hide would be great for boxing.

Any lessening of the number of the belt holders would be an improvement. But one belt holder in each existing weight division would be a bigger improvement than reducing the number of weight divisions.

 

I agree, or instead of 4 big organisation and a few minor ones, how about just 2 belt holders per division and incentives given for unification bout. I don't know what type of incentives, maybe some can suggest.

 

The problem is there are a lot more boxers today than in the past. The fewer the divisions the less chance to be the world champions.

 

Why even have two? If you can have two "world champions" then you might as well just have 6 of them.

Let's go back to when boxing was truly great and was the most popular sport in America.

ONE world champion per weight class, 8 divisions, same day weigh-ins. It's very ****ing simple. This sport would be electric overnight.

Just scrolling over the list of current boxing "champions" it's downright laughable -- Jeff Horn, Robert Easter, George Groves walk around this Earth calling themselves "World Champions" lolol.

 

And Charles Martin used to walk the earth as a god.
