Yes, because Willard and Carnera were never champion.

  4. Lewis was arguably at his absolute best between his first and second reigns as champion.

I also don't really think that his win over Holyfield was his best either, if anything it was a pretty tepid showing where he might have lost the decision under different circumstances.

I love it, knew someone would talk about these guys....they wernt the best heavyweights before 1962 now were they........Max Baer, Schemling, Braddock were far better than the Primo.....and for Willard he was a hopless fighter who happend to find an ancient champion in decline....what next your gonnna tell me Leon Spinks was a great heavy.

I know my stuff cowboy, in fact im honouring the heavies before Liston as think they were great for there time... by not comparing them to now.

Those two weren't great, but they were big guys who were, at one point, the no.1 HW in the World. Willard looks like dog**** on film (even against Johnson) but Carnera is nowhere near as bad as some make him out to be.

And if we're talking 'great' than Bowe certainly doesn't deserve an inclusion, though with his size, jab and inside game he is certainly formidable H2H on his best day, if not entirely infallible when it comes to sheer toughness.

Who were the greater HWs before '62?

    IMO

    1. Louis
    2. Marciano
    3. Johnson
    4.Langford
    5. Charles
    6. Tunney
    7. Dempsey
    8. Jeffries
    9. Walcott
    10. Patterson (higher if including post '62 body of work)

I consider Max Baer grossly underrated nowadays as well.

basically the same as mine...so where your aggressiveness comes from im still trying to fathom.

E, Chambers is the same size as joe louis...bar a few extra ppounds of fat...he lasted untill the last moments with wlad...so if it makes you feel better joe was certainly better than eddie now imagine the task for wlad would be.
