If Brock gets demolished, will he get a pass like Anderson does against Sonnen?

For physically not being at peak capacity and facing a roided-up opponent? :yep

Seems reasonable to me. Overeem is the poster boy for steroid suspicion in MMA, and Brock is more than likely down on physical strength thanks to his illness. His divirculisis or however the **** you spell it must affect his fighting prowess and confidence like Anderson's rib did. :conf

I don't think Brock would win anyway, I think a lot of people will just be ****y and say the usual harsh **** against Brock. I think Overeem will just light him up in whatever state he's in.

Had a dream Brock won by boring decision though, so fingers crossed.

If think if Brock was in the sorta shape he was in for Mir 2 he'd take this, but this fight is Reem's for the taking if he can acquit himself well in the 1st 3 minutes or so in the early grappling exchanges.

No, I'm not saying that at all. Not everything has to be 100% either or, you know. :-(

If Overeem demolishes Brock and Brock can't get anything going at all, then I'll be impressed with Overeem, with the caveat that the extent of Brock's deterioration after his illness and long layoff is a question mark.

If Brock fights well and Alistair rides out an early storm and beats him, then of course I would praise him. You would have to, because getting roughed up by Brock and then coming back is no joke.

I know that's a bit of a complex stance for your world of goodies and baddies, but that's how it is. :good

He will get a pass from me.

Coming off a very long lay-off due to a serious illness then getting thrown back in at the deep end immediately, and against a known drug cheat?

I don't think Brock would beat Overeem at any time due to the stylistic match-up. but that's irrelevant, this is an unwinnable position to be in and I for one will give Brock a pass for this brutal loss.

I don't think it's a terrible stylistic matchup for Brock.

Overeem's main strength is kickboxing. If Brock is at anything close to peak strength/conditioning and he can use the power and athleticism that he's used to having to take Overeem down, then the fight shifts to Brock's territory.

If he can't take Overeem down quickly then he gets lit up, there's no question about that. But if he can get Overeem on his back even briefly and start up any ground and pound, the fight could get very interesting in a hurry.

The best possible outcome would be if Brock wins by KO in the fourth round after he dismantles Overeem in a tight, technical stand up striking match. I would laugh my arse off.

    Reality on the other hand...

If Brock shows some hole in Overeem's game, and defeats Overeem, can Overeem still be treated like the real winner if he runs his mouth enough?

Not sure what you mean by Anderson being demolished, in the end Sonnen had to tap or he would have been put to sleep.
Brock was demolished against Cain. If he gets beat like that or worse, he probably won't get a free pass, because at the end of the day fans don't care about excuses.

    Didn't Anderson beat Sonnen?
