OK, I assume you are being sarcastic. You're right, if you win fights and beat good people then you are a good fighter, end of. But by "not a good 'fighter'" I mean he hasn't got the natural fighting instinct to fire back when under attack. He can impliment a gameplan well because of his physical assets but he doesn't have true fighting spirit, not in a stand up capacity anyway. That's why he looked so poor when being backed up in the first round, like a novice really.
Yes, it was down to his "spirit" and not the fact that his "brain" was "concussed" and he was nearly "unconscious"
I don't buy that. He was never nearly unconscious. The uppercut that landed was on his brow from an extended hand. Granted it was the biggest hand in MMA. The knee was what made Lesnar retreat to the floor which also landed to the eye/nose area. I don't buy that he was dazed or nearly unconscious. He doesn't like to get punched. There was an instance of one decent punch and one decent elbow that landed on Brock from already exhausted Carwin. Carwin was never really hurting Brock with gnp, watch the fight, all the punches were pushing punches. Watch the fight again. Brock rope-a-doped Carwins ass. There was no spirit, there was no heart, it was him covering up successfully to tire Carwin out.
I call it the fighter v bully mentality. Fedor = fighter, if you push him he fights back no matter who you are. Brock = Bully, he will beat up the weak and will puff himself up, however if your bigger/better/stronger and you push him he will run away and cower.
So you think he was concussed when he was backed up towards the cage? When he covered up and backed off without trying to evade punishment or fight back? When his own corner even said between round 1 & 2 'You can't just cover up when you get hit'? Was that when he was nearly unconcious? The ref should be banned for life for not stopping a fight where a concussed and nearly unconscious man is laying prone while getting twatted on the floor. Oh wait, no he shouldn't. You're talking bollocks. You don't seem to know the difference between concussion and just being hurt.
Maybe not concussed, but he was clearly rocked and not able to function properly physically or mentally.
Hmmmm. I'd say that not being able to function physically or mantally when hit, and not KO'd, are not the qualities of a GOOD FIGHTER! Lots of fighters get hurt but they manage to hold, move or fire back. Remember Fedor V Fijito? FE got proper scrambled but had the instict to hold on and smother Fujitos attack. Because he is a 'real fighter' He would have done that even if never trained, it's in his DNA. BL got hit, covered up and backed away submissivley, I even go as far as to say that the ref could have stopped it there and then if the criteria is to be inteligently defending yourself and showing the will to fight. Having said all I have on the subject I sound like a Brock basher, I don't think he's awful, I just think that he seems to be the poster boy for all of MMA in the mainstream and I prefer more skilled, better striking and BJJ background type fighters. Just my preference
That reminds me of a good point: the difference between being rocked and actually running from getting punched too hard. Getting "rocked" will shut your legs down, Lesnar was on his feet and moving his feet pretty ****ing well through out the whole barrage.
The difference is Brock got hit and THOUGHT 'That hurt'. Fedor was an example of your brain temporarily malfunctioning Zab Judah style. You can see the guy is trying to tell his legs to do one thing and the signal being sent is scrambled and incoherant. I say again, if you get hit and your instinct is to cover up and move away YOU ARE NOT A NATURAL FIGHTER. Dana would rip the **** out of a kid if they did that in TUF. But Brock isn't a fighter is he? He's a wrestler.
Bit different. He was gone and he knew it, he was looking for a way out and he got it. Everyone gets hurt and everyone can/will lose. I take back a lot of what I have said about Brock. I was wrong in many ways.
Well, like in your other thread, he's a fighter for other reasons. But to give him credit for absolute nonsense is unnecessary. I'll give him all the credit in the world for coming back from life threatening situation to beating a big mofo. But people saying how he showed heart and spirit in the fight and how impressive he was with his "comeback" is bull****. You put it really good when you said he "THOUGHT 'That hurt'" instead of malfunctioning from a concussion.
'Cos he's a playground bully who just likes to use his heavily roided body to lie on top of his smaller opponents. When someone fights back, he folds, turns his back, and curls into a ball on the floor. Luckily his opponent was a bum who gassed after throwing twenty punches. All in all, a pathetic exhibtion of "ultimate fighting".
