If someone scored the Porter fight 112-114, Prov would probably be subject to yet another robbery even if he knocked down Broner twice per round.

i think with the way provo charges in blocking punches with his face , broner would find it fairly easy to touch him and that could motivate him to start putting them together

Not sure. But, he'd be competitive with all of them.

Would you say he was competitive with Porter? I had him losing every round except the 12th.

No. But, the question was about fighters at 140. Porter is a natural WW who is strong as a MW. Even at a C/W Porter was still bigger and stronger. Adrien fares better against fighters his own size.

I have never seen Broner look impressive against a fighter he didn't have a big size advantage on (like he did against everyone at 130 and 135). 140 is around the right size for him and even then he's looked pretty average against bog standard opposition. Carlos Molina, Emmanuel Taylor and John Molina are levels below the top 10 guys

Of course Broner would be landing check left hooks and his uppercut, an underrated punch, but you gotta remember, Prov has a great set of whiskers and will eat Broners best punches to land his own, his left hook in particular, which is Broner's Achilles heel.

Well, true. He's a beast at 130-135. But, he is still viable at 140. Above that, he is not very effective. Even against Paulie, he didn't look that good. Against the stronger WWs, he just can't hang. I don't see any guys at JWW that would manhandle him like Porter did, though.

To be honest even at 130, 135 I thought he was carefully matched and all hype. Had he faced Uchiyama or Miura at 130 then his hype would've ended before it began. I also had De Leon and Quintana beating him. For his world title at 130 he fought a guy who was ranked like 76th in the division below.

At 135 he priced himself out of fights with Vazquez, Abril and Burns and picked the weakest title holder in DeMarco then defended it against guys he was massive against.

He was a big strong LW is what I meant. At 140 he is matched with fighters more his size. The size and strength advantages are mostly gone. He relies more on his handspeed now. And he still has some pop.

He certainly was not all hype. Was he matched carefully? Yes. Was he outworked by Ponce De Leon? Well...yeah. But, he was/is quite talented.

I'm not sure he would have lost to Abril or Burns.

I think Abril and Burns would've schooled him. Certainly more difficult stylistically than DeMarco who I've always seen as big time overrated. His two biggest wins at Lightweight- Linares and Molina- was more down to rookie mistakes from those guys than anything DeMarco really did. The other night he was shut out by a guy jumping two divisions which says it all really.
