I think he'd be top 10 just as he is now. He's a cut above the Taylors, C. Molinas and Mayfields of the division. That puts him just below more proven JWWs like Peterson. A win over someone like Peterson and people will take him more seriously. A win over Mathysse will put him in the running for a crack at Garcia.
Probably, but we could say that about countless high profile fighters throughout history. Weight classes exist for a reason. Would Bob Foster have been an atg had he started his career as a HW? Doubtful. Duran would probably have been good at any weight in any era, but would he have dominated an entire decade at 147 or 154, like he did at 135? Unlikely. How about LaMotta? Would he ever have even sniffed the title at 175? I'm not so sure. I could go on and on. Obviously, I'm not comparing Broner to these guys. I'm just emphasizing the significance of weight classes when evaluating someone's legacy.
