I know it's not likely, but let's say it happens. I just wonder, how would that victory rank for you? Best singular win for any active boxer or would it have an asterisk attached to it since many consider Golovkin unproven on an elite level?

Definitely best single win for any active boxer, if my memory doesn't let me down here.

    What are the contenders?

It will be right up there with the best wins of any active boxer.

Floyd, Pac, JMM and Hopkins aren't really active right now so there aren't really many alternatives. Fury beating Wlad was big. Ward beating Kovalev would be big.

It would be a great win since he's moving up 2 weight classes, but I think that it will also say something about GGG, and how overrated he is.

Fury beating Wlad was bigger in my eyes, as Wlad was a far more proven commodity than Gennady and had dominated for a decade.

Well since Jones Jr is technically still active I'd say his clowning of a prime Toney is the best win of any active boxer.

Yes, but Wlad isn't the talent that GGG is. You didn't see Golovkin getting destroyed by cans.

Margarito is active again. His win over Cotto was also impressive.

And Brook is also moving up 2 divisions whereas Fury is bigger than Wlad. Makes it really hard to say which wins are bigger/better.

True, but going up two divisions swings it in Brook's favour for me if he wins.

Wlad is a far more proven commodity than Golovkin. If they both retired tomorrow, Wladimir would be in the discussion of top 10 All Time Heavyweight Champions.

    Golovkin shares no such distinctions.

When Golovkin becomes the universally recognized champion in his own weight class for a decade, then we can talk.

Until then, Wlad's legacy is well secured, and Golovkin is fighting unproven welterweights.
