If Burns - Katsidis had been on Sky Sports...?

The viewing figures would have been 10x as bigger, this despite Boxnation being free.... I've said it from the start without promotion it's not going to work.

Many more people would have seen him win, plus we would get the fall out on SSN and much more people would know who he is.... Of course it would make a difference!

How well known are Kats and JMM to the British public?

I have a few friends who are sports fans and who've watched the big fights with me over the years (Haye, Khan, Hatton, Calzaghe) and they have no idea who Ricky Burns is let alone Katsidis. One or two will know Marquez but only because I've made them watch Pac/Marquez 1 and 2.

I think he thought you meant there were loads of pages on Burns.

 

my mates who are general sports fans knew who Katsidis and Marquez were but not Ricky Burns.

2 of my friends got 2 tickets to the fights on saturday. One of them asked me "who are DeGale and Katsidis were fighting"

 

BoxNation is brilliant but only for people like us. No one I know apart from about 2 people knew Burns was fighting Katsidis last weekend and its a shame. BoxNation should promote itself ALOT better. No one apart from hardcore fans knows it even exists.

 

I was watching a big fight a while back, can't remember which one and Katsidis was on the undercard. I was sitting with a pen and paper scoring the fight and my mates who are semi fans, were saying **** like "this guy's no too bad, he can throw a punch" and other ******ed **** like that. I had butted in a couple of times and noted that "Katsidis is a well respected top level boxer" and got back to my notepad but they persisted with their stupid comments.

I eventually lost it a bit and shouted at them "It's ****in Michael Katsidis your talking about, no some 12 fight ****ing prospect"

I struggle watching boxing with mates sometime.

 

I know what you mean. When my friends are round for a big fight I find that I just dumb myself down a bit and go along with the general flow of conversation. It's easier.

I know what you mean it's like when one of your mates who knows nothing about boxing bangs on about how good Bredis Prescott is because he Knocked out Amir Khan. Then when you explain that he's lost 3 fights including 1 to Mitchell and 1 to Mcloskey they are like 'Oh I never Knew That'

 

Even up in Scotland he gets **** all coverage. Back page on Sunday was Greg Wylde getting sent off for Rangers. Burns was on the final sports page before the classifieds and dating adverts- pathetic- partciularly when Scotland has got **** all in the way of talent in 99% of other sporting fields.

 

We need to support BN fellas. They've been good so far.

 

Scottish sunday times sport section had **** all in it about burns. I was expecting front page and a big spread. Cant believe the lack of knowledge in scotland about burns. Hes should be as big as andy murray. On another note I reckon burns would be a massive hit in america if someone promoted him right. Hes looks like a boxing version of eminem, especially when he had the bleached hair.
