I won't care about Gomez/Mayweather is Cotto loses. Gomez/Margarito or Gomez/Quintana would be the logical fight.
Anyone who thinks that Cotto loses this fight is well and truely deranged. This is about as much a certainty as the sun rising every morning.
if Cotto loses then Mayweather's most logical opponent will be Mosley after he gets by Judah and maybe the winner of CQ/PW II
Gomez won't win. The miracle will be if he survives more than 8 rounds. I like Alfonso, but Cotto/Gomez is an elite, world class fighter against a solid "B" level opponent. Boo
Personally, I wouldn't like to see that fight take place next. In order for Gomez to beat Cotto, I think were going to have to see a whole new Gomez inside of the ring, which I just don't see happening. If Gomez were to upset Cotto, I would like to see Floyd take on the winner of Quintana-Williams II or the winner of Cintron-Margarito II.
if ctto loses then his fans can kiss a floyd fight goodbye. cotto is under the same rules as hatton and he knows it. why do you think he low blowed judah in their fight. one loss and good bye floyd fight. in that scenario gomez would face the winner of cintron/margarito next or the winner of quintana vs mosley/judah winner these fighters must unify the belts in order to get floyd to fight. whoever is left standing with the belts will be floyds fight after the hatton rematch. nothing like retiuring after unifying the belts:hey
The other fighters need to unify their belts, to face Floyd, the champ. atsch You get dumber by the day.
Thats exactly the way I see it. Gomez is good, but the type of fighter you typically would see fighting on ESPN. In his case, he kind of got an early pass at stardem due to his popularity on the reality tv show, in addition to hard work. Cotto is the elite who already beat guys like Gomez earlier in his career when he was coming up in the game. Cotto has all the advantages coming into this fight. However, never say never, because all it takes is one guy to have a complete off night and the other to have the greatest night of his career in order to level the playing field and close that gap of talent. Though, at this point in his career, Miguel Cotto has the momentum, and of recent has shown the focus to smoke through anyone that is anything less than him. Gomez < Cotto = April 12th.
For me NO . . . I'm still rooting for PBF/Margarito and PBF/Cotto. A loss for Marg and Cotto doesn't mean they are not capable of giving PBF hell . . . and that's what I wanted to see.
