...where will he be (in your opinion), in:

    a) all time greats?
    b) P4P list

and how much would your respect for him as a fighter have increased?

Doesn't do much for his ATG ranking I'm afraid, though would increase my respect for him and probably move him up to #1 p4p, depends entirely on what Pac does though and whether he fights and beats Hatton.

My respect for Joe would go WAY up. However, fighting Jones first seems like an ass backward way to go about this. Pavlik will fight either Williams or Winky in September, and then Abraham in January. It will be May of 09 before they could make Pavlik/Calzaghe. In the mean time Pavlik fights and beats two good fighters and moves closer to his peak, while Joe fights a shot Jones and gets older and further from his peak. This is foolishness on Joe's part.

Yea but just for a moment imagine if he won both bouts , we would hear all the same **** , Jones was shot ( Which he is ) and Pavlik was untested ala Lacy ( which ain't true ) . but we would hear it all the same .

im telling you wait for it he'll fight a big star and it won't be Kp . IMHO i think dlh will move up to 162or 163 and have joe meet him at 165 or 166 so that he can shoot for his 7 weight class . and big money fight in the UK.

I would have a lot more respect for him and think it's a great end to his career!

It would be a really great win for Joe against his first p4p prime fighter, but it has to be put in perspective though. These are the fights a boxer of his standing is suposed to be making and winning.

We've had so many of these threads now. Cant you just use the search function & glean the necessary information from there?

Are we going to get a new wave of threads everytime we get the merest of hints Joe may make a different career move?

If at 36 he can beat a prime Pavlik, one of the most dominant fighters in all of boxing, Calzaghe would have to be 1 pfp. Not that I think he will beat Pavlik, but it would be very impressive.

Even a loss to KP is a more honorable way to leave the sport than leaving with a meaningless win of RJJ.

A loss to Kelly Pavlik is not honourable. It would tarnish everything to lose to such a fighter.
