If Calzaghe calls Hopkins bluff?

I wanted to see this fight at first but now I hope it doesn't happen. Calzaghe has only a couple of good fights left and I don't want one of them to be ruined by a fighter that clinches three times as often as he punches. He would hold on to Joe like a crying wife sending her husband off to war.

 

I'm assuming the ones you did here about were all American, no?


Hopkins has beaten p4p'ers yes. But ODLH, Tito are a lot lot smaller than Hopkins. Tarver is way overated because of his wins over a SHOT RJJ. The win by Hopkins was impressive because of the jump in weight and his age, NOT because of the calibre of opposition.

Then he beats Wright, a natural Light Middle and you go crazy for it? Yes, the wins make his resume a lot better than Joe's, but he has never beaten a fighter of the calibre of Calzaghe. When he fights JC, which he will, you'll get to see this:hi:

 

Someone needs to be honest to Hopkins and tell him he's not an exciting, crowd pulling fighter. He repeatedly put me to sleep during his fights.

And he's way too old to beat Calzaghe at this point. I'd still like to see the fight because a lot of people here believe Hopkins would win. But it would be wiser for him to price himself out like he did against Jones and feast on welterweights.

I feel there is going to be a lot of arguing on this matchup. Americans vs Europeans.

First, Lacy was going to destroy Calzaghe with one punch, then Kessler was too young and Strong for Calzaghe and would whoop his ass. And now, Popkins is going to ass **** him at 45? (Because it won't be in 2 weeks).

Is it for patriotisism that you guys think Hopkins would win over Calzaghe?

If I could fast forward all this arguing, I can't wait to see the comments on this thread after the fight.

If they can come to terms then the fight will be made! Hopefully Joe will continue to trend this way in terms of FINALLY stepping up in competition instead of ducking any real form of competition. This fight or any other ELITE fighter should have been on Joe's resume a LOOOOOOONG time ago. He's now itching for real respect that has been avoiding him like he's been avoiding real challenges. Not that Joe doesn't have the skills and talent to be competitive or even beat the best of the best...he just hasn't shown the desire to test himself until he reached the at of 35. If this fight is made Joe stands a great chance at beating Hop.

Bernard has only faced one fighter who was superior to Calzaghe.

And he lost, decisively.


With both men at prime, this would have been interesting , with the edge going to Calzaghe.

At this point in their respective careers, I don't think this wwould even be competitive.

Bernard has never fought at 168.

At 175 he is 1-1-0.
