If Calzaghe came back at 175 to fight Froch, would he win?

Eh... I think if Calzaghe came back he would be alright, fringe world maybe... But not elite. He's too old and he's been out of the game for a long time. I was surprised at how sharp he looked hitting the bag though.

I think Calzaghe would pull a Leonard over Hagler type performance. Froch has been out for a while now and Calzaghe was just an athletic freak who could likely get himself in decent enough shape to box his way to a win for the ages.

Wow, this is seriously stupid. You make a point about Froch being out a while, Calzaghe has been retired for years. In my opinion this is a completely pointless thread, as we all know the answer to this.

You get worse! So you think a fighter who has been retired for years can come out of retirement after losing at least 4 stone and challenge the second best guy in the division? Really dude? You clearly know **** all about boxing if that's the case

As much as I like Calzaghe I seriously doubt it... Yeah maybe in 2010 or 2011, but you do realize that he's been out of the ring and inactive for the better part of a decade right?

I think he is a very casual fan and heard of Calzaghe and Froch and just assumed they were both as inactive as each other to be honest

I highly doubt Calzaghe need to lose "at least 4 stone" to make 175, what planet are you on?

How long was Ali out of the ring?

I know nothing about boxing...Ok Carl.

Ali was out from the age of 25 to 28 and even then he wasn't quite the same when he returned. Plus Calzaghe is hardly Muhammad Ali is is.

Yes ****head well said, he has only ever been the second best guy in the division! Hardly makes for legendary status does it and yes even Hopkins now has the skills to slow the fight down and make it a 50/50 fight.

Calzaghe out of boxing for 7 years, Ali 3. Calzaghe was past his peak when he retired, Ali was at his prime or at least close to when he had his break. Ali is in my opinion the greatest fighter of all time, Joe is top 10 British of all time, maybe top 5 British of all time. See the difference? Calzaghe is far beyond 175 now, at the end of the day I don't know his weight and neither do you but I am pretty certain it is more than 3 stone over and probably 4 stone over. He will not come back to boxing and if he tried he would not be an fraction of the fighter he once was, no debate to be had over that, he would be beat by all the British contenders now let alone the best of the bunch.

Haha, he is second to Ward a man who is arguably the most talented fighter on the planet and has a much better skillset than Froch but also Calzaghe. Froch beats Hopkins up, we all know that, but Calzaghe is lucky he wasn't in the same era as Ward as he wouldn't have stood a chance in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, Joe was a great fighter and a legend of British boxing but he had an easier division to fight in than the one that Froch and Ward have operated in over the last 5 years. However it is weaker now than it was but 3-4 years back it was seriously strong.
