If Calzaghe can't beat an old Ward (bhop) how can he beat...

Old Hopkins? Why, wasnt Calzaghe old then too? Besides Hopkins skills do not fade with age, unlike Calzaghe who clearly lost a step. In fact the young Hopkins who faced Roy Jones loses by KO to the Hopkins that faced Calzage.

    Stop hating.

its not about calzaghe being 'too old', its about calzaghe never taking on the best two fighters in the world when it mattered

saying calzaghe had "clearly lost a step" is just trying to bolster how good the win was - we dont know when calzaghe was in his prime because, until kessler beat froch after joe had retired, he had never beaten a proven world class fighter in his prime

calling it hating is just childish - nothing wrong with someone having a different opinion to you
im willing to slug it out in a debate if you are...

calzaghe would batter ward just like he beat roy jones jr. it would be very one sided. on paper it looks good though. however, calzaghe throws TOO many HARD punches and is defensively good too.

A big difference between a faded Roy Jones and a prime Ward.

Anyway, please can you elaborate how he would do that?

An old Calzaghe beat an old Hopkins. It means nothing when debating who would win between a prime Calzaghe v Ward.

no hahah! cal is not defensively good.

he has an awkward southpaw stance which makes him difficult to adapt to for green fighters (like the ones he picked to defend against) but he easy enough to unlock and hit. Thats where his good chin and great recovery come in.

i feel ward would make the fight ugly as he isnt an orthodox boxer like kessler.
however, i dont think he is as crafty as hopkins (yet) and doesnt hold alot which would invite calzaghe to get his machine gun punches in. joe is quite a clever fighter too, he'll throw fakes which weaken a fighter mentally and then he takes you apart.

how is calzaghe's southpaw stance awkward? its no different to any other fighters stance. the only thing is, is versatile- moves his head well, blocks and parries shots well and overall not easy to hit. so ppl label him awkward. lol
