I didn't expect it, but it's starting to look like it could happen. Especially with his recent unprovoked talk about Froch, Joe Calzaghe is making it look like he might return to the ring. He turns 38 this month, so if he comes back and fights for a year or two we might get 2-6 fights from him.

Is this a good idea for Calzaghe? I think it is. There's a high risk of losing, but I think we all know there are still questions about how good he was. Coming back and beating a few more guys might do a lot for his legacy and status. Furthermore, he didn't make quite as much money as he would have liked to, I think.

Most importantly, who should he fight? I'm assuming Calzaghe won't make 168 anymore, so these fights would have to take place at 170-175.

Glen Johnson vs. Tavoris Cloud winner?
Chad Dawson vs. Jean Pascal winner?
    Bernard Hopkins?
    Lucian Bute?
    Carl Froch?
    Andre Ward?
    Arthur Abraham?

I would choose Abraham, Ward and Dawsom myself

Gotta go with Dawson. I wish Calzaghe made that his last fight instead of Jones.

Man I would love to see him put a whoopin' on Carl Frock. Then go on to attempt to whoop everyone in the Super 6! Then call out Dirrell. Then... That would be classic!

He protected that 0 this long though, no sense in risking it now.

    Dead thread.

    He's NOT coming back.

    And neither is Lennox.

    Nor Hagler.

I do not blame him for not fighting dawson . . . to mush risk and little reward. It would be great if he came back because there are so many hungry lions out there, that were not there when he ran the coop. But he will not come back because their is too much risk out there. I wish his fans would let him retire in peace!

I think that it makes more sense for him to stay retired. A win against Dawson would be huge, but a loss would be even 'huger'. Froch would be a safe fight that would generate a lot of interest and money, but only because Froch is an undefeated champion. He probably won't be in a few months though. So cleaning up Froch after he just lost twice wouldn't be as big a deal as beating him up right now. Of course, Froch has a way of proving me wrong, so he might just keep on winning. In that case, I promise you Calzaghe would come back and fight him.

If Pascal beats Dawson, that would be a good fight as well. Johnson or Cloud would also be a good win. I think those are fairly safe fights for Calzaghe, but Dawson would be too close ofr comfort.

Slappy Joe will only come back if the courts grant his petition to exhume Ray Robinson's corpse. After all, Slappy only fights legends.

Did you not hear about that time he outclassed Lacy AND Kessler. Each the number 2 in the division at the time he fought them. Neither legends by the way.

He is set for life. At 38, why would he return? Most of you posters don't understand all of the stress these fighters put their bodies through. From the amatuers through pros. I forgot his name, but just recently I believe a former LW champ was getting ready for a combat at about the same age. He later changed his mind after seeing that his body was not reacting in training like he was expecting. I'm just turning 44, but I look like I am in my twenties. I think I could get back in the ring to spar, but thinking is one thing and doing it is another. I'll possibly get my ass kicked by a 16 year old. SRL is a great example. RJJ knows he should not be fighting either, but the mind is telling him something else.
