if you've got a philosophical oversion to rematches that won't matter all it was was an alphabet strap and i highly doubt calzaghe fought every single mandatory during his 10 year reign

Veit was interim champ, Calzaghe left Veit off as long as he could. No point being stripped, may aswel get him out of the way.

God theres some bile typed on this thread.

Calzaghe already beat Gaynard Borekins, No Nad Dawson cowered and arranged a rematch with Tarver of all people... and if Dawson could be Tarver, imagine how bad Joe would work his face over.

Hopkins proved he doesn't belong in the ring with Calzaghe, even a shot Calzaghe, this was 1 smaller man Hopkins couldnt beat up on, he doesn't even deserve a rematch.

    What it should be

    Calzaghe vs Johnson
    Hopkins vs Dawson
Tarver vs Jones Jr [retirement match]

there is absolutely no-one from mw to lhw that can beat calzaghe,b hop had his shot, i think he should give dawson a slapping in cardiff and retire to be fair to dawson as he is the only decent fighter that havent had his chance against calzaghe left.

Hopkins cant do any better than that first fight, he's not conditioned to fight 3 minutes of every round... he never was and unfortunately for him Calzaghe is the only man fit enough and skillful enough to make him do that... as for Dawson... please, he's a good boxer but he's lazy, has ineffective punching power at the highest level and has a questionable chin. Calzaghe cant hit for **** these days, but he must have enough pop to gain his opponents respect, as I'm yet to see anyone simply walk through him... which even a flyweight could do according to some on here lol.

It's a shame we have to put all of our hopes in Dawson, as an American I'm sad about the fact we're having to look to the likes or Dawson and Pavlik. They are nice guys but VERY beatable and the signs were there from the start, people just chose to ignore them... this is why I wont jump on the Dawson bandwagon, he's not a complete package, far far far from it.

    Yes, he would.

    Bar the hometown judging.

I genuinely believe he would lose both of these fights, though I am more confident that Hopkins would beat him than Dawson, it would be a big step up for Dawson and I can't be too sure of how he would handle it. I have no doubts that Hopkins would beat Joe convincingly in a rematch.

You can fantasise for the rest of your life it's never gonna happen, he got beat like the other 46.

Dawson may happen though,I can't see Joe losing that one either
