if cal takes on and beats dawson there there are no worth while fights left for him. im only thinking this as i would like to see him reach 50-0.
does he just hang up his gloves or fight the likes of glenn johnson which in my eyes would only bring more criticism of his resume. the only fight i can see out there for him is to drop down and take on taylor, but i cant see this happening.
its a shame as there arent really any good big fights out there for him so there is no chance of him pleasing people by padding out his resume.
i think a hopkins rematch is pointless as he would gain nothing from it.

i feel sorry for the guy. he gets cained for the quality of the oposition in his weight class which is hardly his fault.
everybody says he ducked hopkjins and roy inb there prime. but in my opinion they all pretty much side stepped each other.
its well known that hopkins was due to fight hom yrs ago but doubled his purse at the last minute which scuppered the fight. people seem to forget that.
if that fight had come off things could have been a lot different.

i think if he fought Dawnson and beat him convincingly...no one would leave him with much criticism...there will ALWAYS be some sort of question mark left...but if he fought and beat him convincingly...the question mark would be much smaller...

You can never make everyone happy...I personally dont think that Joe needs to fight Dawson, I mean the guy is the next generation, and Joe has said that he wants to retire. So if he retires good luck to him....HOWEVER if he doesnt retire and doesnt fight Dawson then there is a problem.

Dawson is a bit of a nobody, basically got beat by old man Johnson, Calzaghe would get zero respect from me for whipping that ass, he should just retire now, he's a shoe in ATG.

If he fought Dawson and inevitably showed him up the idiots that are calling for that fight would be bleating about Johnson or Tarver or Bute or Kessler or Hopkins or Taylor or however the **** else is next in line.

    There is ALWAYS somebody else.

however it must be said that mayweather left THE most active weight class at the time when he left
(margo, cotto, williams to begin with....)

There is always the next guy...Someone will always claim he ducked the next guy.

I had a guy tell me once that Rocky M retired to duck fighters coming up like Liston, Patterson, Johansson.

If he beats Dawson there would be nobody left. He'd always be questioned for hiding out in Wales for a decade, but now there is nobody left to fight other then Dawson. He cant make up for his past duckages but he can atleast rectify it somewhat by beating a 6'3 175lb south paw who is fast, strong and most importantly young.

Dawson is gonna have a long fruitful career. Kessler is about to be exposed, and Lacy was already exposed. Who is left? A 43 year old Hopkins and a shot Jones. Nothing to build a legacy on.

Mayweather had already built a tremendous career. Multiple titles in multiple weight classes.

Calzaghe's resume by comparison is not nearly as good.

    Kessler
    Hopkins
    Jones

Jermaine Taylor and Chad Dawson are not even in their 30's and they boasted and boast nearly equal caliber resume's.

mayweathers situation is a bad example to use becuz he did leave welterweight wen it was very deadily. however his quote does apply to calzaghes situation

Kessler will only be exposed if he fight P4P opposition again. At his current pace, that is not very likely.

your missing the point. there is nobody out there for him to fight. if he fights and beats dawson. it will be another pavlic scale over rated moanathon. hopkins is already apparently past it. jones jr is shot. same for tarver. johnson is just pointless. who does he fight to please the punters??????
the answer is there is nobody. so the guy is on a hiding to nothing what ever he does.
he should just retire. he has done enough in my eyes.
he is probably the best super middle ever. **** the resume. it proves **** all in reality.

Nonsense. As I said, Dawson is going to be a top P4P fighter in the future, probably already is. Floyd Mayweather considers Dawson the best fighter in the sport. Thats a heavy endorsement, he's only 26. If Calzaghe beat him it would mean alot. Not only would it be Calzaghe beating a younger opponent, but he would be beating someone with a skill set he has never faced before. He has never faced a big young dude with speed before.

And how the hell can you say **** resume? Being the best super middle ever doesnt mean ****. Its one of the worst divisions. Its like saying im the best cruiser. Who gives a ****?
