Nonsense. His victories over Hatton and De La Hoya in his 4th and 5th weight class respectively is far greater then any victory Calzaghe has on his resume, except for maybe Bernard Hopkins at 43 years old.

Add to that his near cleaning out of the 130lb weight class, and his victory over the best 135lb figher in the world in Castillo, Mayweathers resume is far superior.

damn near die'd of boredom watching the first effort. i dont think i could put myself through that again. and hopkins play acting and dirty tactics nearly made me smash my tv. and i have just bought a 37" flat screen and i quite like it. so would rather not take the chance:D

Joe has nothing else to prove. The only person he should go 12 rounds with is his girlfriend. He would embarass Dawson anyway then haters will say Dawson was too green.

Thats why I said except Bernard Hopkins. I think 2 years ago if Cotto fought De La Hoya at 154 he'd would lose. But if you take the fact Floyds beat Hatton a top P4P fighter, and De La Hoya in his 5th weight class, those 2 wins pretty much equal Calzaghe's ugly win over Hopkins.

And i would pick Dawson over Hopkins. Styles make fights. Hopkins cant deal with fast paced fighters, he's too old to stay active a full 12 rounds. Dawson would put him with his workrate, just like Taylor did.

Floyd beat Corrales at 130. Corrales was seen as the best in the division at the time, a P4P fighter and the favorite in the fight. Corrales had something like 30 Ko's in 33 fights leading up to it.

The reason the Chico fight was so important was the fact that Chico would go on to beat Frietas, Casamayor and Castillo. Meaning after Floyd beat Chico, Chico went on to have a great career.

Thats what Calzaghe is missing. None of the peoples he's beat have went on to have a great career. Thats what a Dawson victory would do for him.

Floyds career above 135 may not be the most illustrious. But its filled with just as many names as Calzaghe's his WHOLE career. If you feel Hatton, Zab Judah, De La hoya, Baldomir, Mitchell, and Corley are journeymen and paper titlests, then I'd hate to hear what you have to say about Lacy, Reid, Bika, Veit, Kessler and Manfredo. Thats Calzaghe's reign at supermiddle.

Joe couldnt embarrass Hopkins, why would he embarrass a giant young fast south paw like Dawson?

Hopkins has forgotten more about boxing than Dawson will ever learn. Nobody ever made Hopkins look bad except Roy.

Oh I'm pretty sure there are fights out there that would solidify that resume of his.

A nobody in Europe who means nothing outside of the states and never fought on UK TV, can't blame you if you never heard of him.

If Calzaghe fights and beats this "next big thing" then the next one will probably be Diaconu or Tavoris Cloud, maybe even Bute, Carl Froch or Inkin. There'll always be someone saying "come and prove it against our fighter". Dawson is probably the best fight out there if Calzaghe continues but he needs to beat Glen Johnson properly before he is in a position to demand anything!

The thing is, its not even to do with his weight class, he HAS fought good fighters, better fighters than Pavlik had fought when he was unbeaten and all the Americans were sucking his ball and getting stiffies about him. Then how the **** can they say Calzaghe has never fought anybody good? He has fought better opposition than Pavlik and never lost. Pavlik is not in Calzaghe's league.
