Calzaghe doesn't have what it takes to make legacy fights anymore, sadly. He cannot climb higher than he did by beating Kessler in a very good performance, unfortunately.

Yeah, he's getting past it now and I think he knows it.

I wish he'd taken some bigger fights earlier in his career, but it has been a GREAT career. I'll certainly miss him :|

Calzaghe lacked total confidence until he spanked Lacy; if only that happened 3 years earlier........................

Decebal - what's with the Hopkins avatar dude? Please don't say you've turned to the dark side :scaredas:

Maybe he wouldn't have done as well as he did if he had taken these fights earlier in his career, but he's have gotten better and would have put in even better performance at his peak, even if he had lost some along the way.

I said Hopkins wouldn't win more than 3 clear rounds against Calzaghe. Dorfmeister felt he had.

I'm not a Calzaghe fan, but I think that this is spot on.

Without trying at the time he and we will never know if he could have beaten Hopkins, Jones, Tarver et al at their peak ....the "if only" could be something that on reflection may haunt the man for the rest of his life.

He would be behind Julio Cesar Chavez in most consecutive wins.

He didn't win more than 3 clear rounds against Calzaghe. In fact, he won 3 clear exact on my card and didn't one more after it. Brooklyn1550, a Hopkins fan, had the exact same score.
