Calzaghe was 37 years old and it was the final fight of his career... And he whooped Roy. 'Nuff said.

Was Calzaghe the first to beat Roy? Did Roy have any previous defeats where he was beaten much worse than when Calzaghe beat him?

Did you know that Roy had fought over 100 more rounds than Calzaghe at the time of their meeting?

What exactly is the significance of the final fight of his career? Are you insisting because Roy fought on longer, he was closer to his prime than Joe?

and admitting he was not chasing jones when he was prime, but then waiting till he was shot2**** to fight him (despite saying he would hate to fight a defenceless shot2**** roy)

basically the shittest win Calzaghe could possibly manage, as his career pinnacle, but if that wasn't bad enough he showboated the stricken jones through out like the mong he is.

I liked joe when I first noticed him in the papers (2007 I think when he started fighting for recognised titles) and he had some top talents (top stamina, great head, great management) but the more I learned about him the more I realised the man is a dick of the highest order who would have suffered multiple defeats without the screen of the Wassen boxing organisation title.

LOL at some of these comments. Jones was about 40 years old and 3-3(2) in his last 6 fights going into his fight with Calzaghe and had fought only once a year for the previous 5 years. Calzaghe beat a shell of Jones who was dealing with a bad cut and could no longer see the punches coming (a mark of a shot fighter). That fight meant nothing, and only a fool would try to say that Calzaghe beat Jones at anywhere near his best. Anthony hanshaw nearly beat Jones FFS at that point in his career.

Also, if that truly was one of Calzaghes top 3 wins, that doesnt say much for Calzaghe. Jones was great for a decade, but the 90s were that decade. Even 01-02, but anything after that he clearly wasnt the same fighter.

its basically like holmes beating up a diseased ali, though holmes had the class not to showboat ali.

I think holmes would probably be so offended he would punch you if you tried to suggest ali was one of his greatest victories. Larry was close to tears after the fight with ali. But not so with joe calzaghe, he whooped with joy over showboating and beating up a helpess crippled ex great. though he appeared to be the only one happy that night, everyone else ringside was showing muted respect.
