If Joe Calzaghe is such an amazing boxer then why did he avoid fighting Roy Jones or callling him out at all until he had already left his prime? You would figure that if he was that confident that he would have won then he would have jumped his ass in a jet and came over here and fought. He never did. He never came here to fight any of our greats, or anybody. Actions speak louder than words. Also, why did he never call out B-Hop until this late in the game? Or matter of fact why hasn't he called out any PROVEN great U.S fighter until he is almost at the end of his own career???? Things that make you go hmmmmmmm :think:think And for the record beating Lacy means as much to me as Lacy beating that contender guy the other night..it was supposed to happen so whats the big deal. Now dont get me wrong Im not saying Calzaghe isnt great bc he is, but it seems like he rode the sidelines over there in Europe all this time and is trying to steal glory from other old fighters at the end of his and their careers instead of earning it and beating them in their primes when he has had hundreds of opportunities in the past.
b-hop called calzaghe out after his fight with winky, FACT. b-hop priced himself out of a fight with calzaghe in 2002, FACT. RJJ-calzaghe? neither really showed any serious interest in each other. don't think either can be accused of ducking each other.
If bernard hopkins is such an amazing boxer then why did he avoid fighting joe calzaghe or callling him out at all until he had already left his prime? You would figure that if he was that confident that he would have won then he would have jumped his ass in a jet and came over here and fought. He never did. He never came here to fight any of our greats, or anybody. Actions speak louder than words. Also, why did he never call out calzaghe until this late in the game? Or matter of fact why hasn't he called out any U.k fighter until he is almost at the end of his own career???? Things that make you go hmmmmmmm And for the record beating hakkar means as much to me as Lacy beating that contender guy the other night..it was supposed to happen so whats the big deal. Now dont get me wrong Im not saying hopkins isnt great bc he is, but it seems like he rode the sidelines over there in USA all this time and is trying to steal glory from other old fighters at the end of his and their careers instead of earning it and beating them in their primes when he has had hundreds of opportunities in the past.
This just sums up the whole thread An ill-informed waste of time, from a complete spastic A fight was agreed 5 years ago, until Bernard ran like the chicken **** overrated fighter that he is
@bigvickfan whoa whoa dont ever use Kessler and prime RJJ in the same sentence, especially comparing! @Arannio Nobody said Europeans were inferior bc they got 1 or 2 good guys lol but I will say America is the world capitol when it comes to boxing. Even you cant deny that. So if you are the best of the best, why not go to the best place to box and beat the best? Very simple concept, dont argue for why he shouldnt have gone but think of all the reasons he should have. The reasons why he should have came and fought here are stacked the reasons why he should have stayed are few and pretty ignorant..especially when you are calling yourself a WORLD champion.
You are not the big boys of boxing anymore Europe has far better fighters in most divisions, and the UK inparticular have the best venues and the best fans The lower weights are dominated by latin fighters, the big boys mostly Europe. You have a few inbetween Time to start living in the real world, get with the times
You Euros are so insecure when it comes to talking about boxing. Why is geography even the main topic when we are talking about one man fighting others. Hatton came here and fought, Lennox Lewis did, Prince Hammed did, Frank Bruno did....so why is Calzaghe the only one who didnt have the stones to? I think its bc now he is old and if he comes here and gets exposed he will have the excuse of "I wasnt in my prime when I fought in America" as a way out. You said it yourself about foreigners fighting here and winning and being succesful and I think thats great and I respect that but thats why Im questioning Joe Calzaghe instead of questioning all the other foreign fighters that came here and established themselves here.
What do you expect, when you are constantly telling us that America is the boxing "capital" in your own words I'm simply pointing out the flaw in that statement. Traditionally it has been, but nowadays we have better fighters, better venues and better fans. So on what grounds is America the capital, and why do we have an obligation to come over there, and not the reverse? American fighters get their legacy by fighting other Americans with inflated reputations in the American media, and the fans take it as gospel It's bull****. Joe Calzaghe is better than your best fighters at 168-175, in every respect. Everyone here knows it, and Bernard Hopkins certainly knows it, hence the ducking
Ok First my friend you need to know boxing! Boxing is a buisness and in buisness people can say hey u dont offer as much as these guys u dont get to fight me! and in this case joe offerd less money than people like Hopkins did to jones or tito or wright did becuase they were already set in america and in america u get more publicity so more money to fight these fights , Calzaghe never had the publicity or money to do this so he just couldnt compete in the financial terms of the agreements where now he has the power, money and publicity to make these fights happen! So i say Go Joe , Ko sum of Golden Boy Hopkins
the only ever time hopkins has fought outside america as far as i am aware in his 50 plus fight career was when he was 28 and got a hard fought draw in south america getting off the deck twice v a journeyman to do so. its not easy fighting as the away fighter as hopkins found out and hopkins appreciates this which is why he wants home advantage all the time. calzaghe knows this as well. unless you beleive calzaghe should be held to a different standard to american fighters ?
Better fighters? lol who from the UK is currently better than Mayweather first of all? Second of all besides Calzaghe and Hatton who can u even make a current argument for that is better than any current US top ten p4p? I need to hear this. The best fighter yall ever had was Lennox Lewis. He is one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time in my book, I will admit that because Im not full of crap and I give credit where credit is due. Besides Lennox who is retired and Calzaghe who will be retiring after he loses to B-Hop and possibly Hatton who is conteplating retirement after losing to PBF where is this strong structure you are talking about that shits on our over hyped and overrated system? You cant say that until he proves it and fights our best..until then its all just speculation. They said Hatton was going to destroy Mayweather and look at what happened...:hi:
apart from hardcore hatton nuts, who said that? you know, making up bull**** doesn't strengthen your arguement.
As far as I can remember, Roy Jones NEVER fought outside America Hopkins has, twice...wow Joe has fought in Germany (highly risky) and Denmark. Not to mention all the stick he got off the English before they jumped on the bandwagon What the **** are these double standards? Joe is the man now, these Americans should be coming over to fight him. But as it happens, he for some reason has to go to America, and he will
