Yeah thats too bad considering how many times we have came to the aid of so many of the people who dont "love us". Countries like people are ungreatful what else can I sayatriot
very true. in 1776 america with the help of france defeated a totally mad german king before that they were under the control of his father and grandfather. 2 more germans .
I'm sure all the dismembered corpses and orphans of Iraq are preparing their thank you gifts as we speak.... There is the difference. British fans would retain their passion, but take booing in good humour.....I doubt many Brits would be bothered about this....
i most certainly understand this. i love the opposition fans giving it back, creates a great atmosphere and gets you more pumped. i was at the emirates yesterday and the chelsea fans were ****ing tame :-( was a massive let down, still we created enough noise on our own for a change :yep to be fair though there is a big difference it seems in sporting culture between the US and the UK so i understand why they're bitching but should ****ing let it go now.
this type of thing is normal for europeans. singing yout own national anthem is apparently even frowned on in some countries there(germany). just let it rest, it's a european thing. you dont see mexicans, boricuas, filipinos etc.... do it when they fight.
Also dont forget, Im sure all the dismembered corpses and orphans of Nazi Germany, Japan and Facist Italy prepared their gifts in the same fashion when we came to the aid of Europe and Russia as well.
Here's the difference that no Europeans seem to understand... In American, a fighter (like BHop, Roy Jones, Toney, etc.) could be fighting in his home country and not be the hometown favorite. PBF has fought in his home country and gotten booed plenty...Fighting in your backyard by US standards is fighting in your home state or close by (BHOP in Philadelphia, New Jersey, or Washington DC for example). When Calzaghe has fighters visit the UK from other countries, he is the HOMETOWN favorite. Does Calzaghe go to any town in the UK where is actually NOT the hometown favorite??? That's the point. In the US, you can be an American great fighter and get booed because you're from NY and you're fighting a Florida fighter in Florida. Can you say the same for Calzaghe? Everytime I've seen him fight, he's been the crowd favorite. Plus, he's fighting FOREIGNERS, people who leave their country to go to his backyard. That is in no way the same as it is in the US.
Yes, if they are fighting other Americans or maybe Mexicans in some places. But where in all of America would Calzaghe be a hometown favourite over BHOP, RJJ, Toney, Pavlik, Taylor etc etc? If Calzaghe fought Woods in Sheffield or Froch in Nottingham he would most likely be the "away" fighter.
Haha I love how you talked down to me. Who the hell are you? What is with this bull**** entitlement complex. Here's a math lesson genius... You named one fight where JC didn't have a hometown advantage and where he wasn't a crowd favorite. JC has fought 44 times. That's 1 out of 44. That's 2.27% of the time. Think about it. By the way, I've traveled to over 20 countries...how about you? Before you open your mouth to be an arrogant ****, know what you're talking about. That must be your "Royal Complex", your majesty!:bbb
JC would be the away fighter, same as if RJJ went to England, Wales, or anywhere in Europe... The point is, how many times have you seen JC booed when his name was announced in a fight??? That's my point. Miguel Cotto is a Puerto Rican fighter who is the crowd favorite in NY no matter who he fights. Trinidad is a fan favorite in NY no matter who he fights, just because of the number of Puerto Ricans in the NY metropolitan area. If you are cheered louder than the other guy, you are the fan favorite. You have the advantage... Lennox Lewis fought in the US all the time. I wouldn't exactly call him constantly fighting in someone else's backyard. Would you???
I always thought Lewis was unappreciated by Americans? Maybe i'm wrong.:think While Hatton had the loudest fans the other night, he certainly wan't home fighter, so it works both ways. Anyways gotta go back to work:good
fighting away from home isnt just about who is the crowd favourite, its about the regular routines, the familiar surroundings, doing what you do , where you do it all the time. It makes a huge difference being in a different country.
No team rivalries in the US??? You are ******ed... Hmmm now you named 4 out of 44 (9.09%)...WOW Reid was his closest fight, Eubank was the best fighter he fought, and what about all of his other fights??? Why can't you just admit that JC hung around getting hometown advantage against mediocre fighters? That's what he did. As far as your traveling for work...I pity you. It must be rough not being home more. :-(( I don't make up bull**** about American fighters just to defend them, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't either.
