Calzaghe is one of those guys where you could argue if he is or isnt an atg but even then top 10 is impossible, From the last 20 years I rate whitaker, tyson, lewis, foreman, chavez, jones jr,hopkins, barrera, morales, pac, mayweather, marquez,Oscar,Trinidad higher.

Calzaghe is in the top 60 to me.... I mean, you can do the eye test and see he was fast and talented... you can also use the eye test and see he didn't have great power or face great opponents... the same way I KNOW RJJ is a top 25 talent/ ATG... is the same way I KNOW and believe Joe is a top 60.. just my opinion.. and RJJ is def a top 25 to me... nothing less...

If Calzaghe was regarded as a top 10 ATG you'd have to raise other fighters like Duran, Ali, Pacquiao etc to the level of god hood.

Calzaghe wasn't even the best fighter of his generation. He wasted his talent, he spent his prime years facing poor opposition and only at the end of his career did he take the risk and a pay cut to face a fellow 168lbs title holder in Lacy. What has Lacy done since?

Kessler hasn't proved much since losing to Calzaghe, he went on to lose to Ward who was not even that highly rated prior to beating Kessler.Hopkins was faded, Jones Jr was shot to ****.

Calzaghe's resume is pretty weak. Real shame he always had the ability to be great and would give any fighter hell, shame he never had the guts to take more risks. Hatton forced ****** to take risks with his career and pushed for greatness while in his prime, why couldn't Calzaghe when he was clearly much more talented than Hatton.

If anyone wasted his prime years it was Joe ..But lets not fault him totally .Im sure Frank ****** was an enabler .

Either way his career does not ******t a top 10 ranking .Top 50 more reasonable .His accomplishments at super middle cannot be denied .If Hopkins gets a ton of credit for his defences @ middle weight the same respect should be given to Joe .Either way a hall of famer but not a top 10 .

I am English and that is nonsense. Head to head Calzaghe would have destroyed Froch but Froch has already done more to be considered higher than him overall. Calzaghe has hardly any decent wins. Only the Kessler win comes without any question marks.

Kessler was meant to be the best super middle in the world after Calzaghe moved up to light heavy. And he never did prove that, his only real good win since losing to Calzaghe was beating Froch. Kessler is a good fighter but he isn't a great one.

Personally I rank Kessler as Calzaghes 2nd best win after Hopkins. Old Hopkins and a good fighter in Kessler do not make him a top 30 ATG let alone top 10. Calzaghe's resume simply doesn't warrant a high ranking as na ATG.

Calzaghe could have achieved so much more, I personally think he was one of the most gifted British fighters ever. He could have arguably gone down as the greatest British fighter ever, he was that talented. But his resume does not match his ability.

I agree with all of your points.. Even through i consider Sartison a decent win.
