Without wanting to sound disrespectful, what is the possibility of Hopkins disqualifying himself if he see's the fights not going the way he wants?
No way. Bernard Hopkins has had the mentality of a champion during his entire career. If things are going really bad for him, sure, I can see him putting the foul tactics into overdrive. Just because he'd be wiling to try anything and everything to disrupt Calzaghe's rhythm and concentration. But would he purposefully do something to get himself DQ'd? I'd be shocked if it happened, to say the least.
A better question would be would the ref dare disqualify Hopkins in a big fight in Vegas especially when it could be his last?.
I dunno. I think he was just trying to intimidate Joe rather than any strong racist feelings. Or if he is prejudiced, wouldn't quiting be more humilating than being outclassed?
He wouldn't quit. He'd just have to fight really dirty, with two possibilities: a) he actually gets away with it b) he gets DQ'd for it.
Stupid thread. You don't know Hopkins apparently, just look at his track record, he has credibility and is not going to blatantly foul himself out just because some things aren't going his way.
Nope... He might be DQ´ed, but he would never do that on purpose. He might say things that seem a bit stupid at times, but the man isn´t stupid for real. This might be one of his last fights if not the last, and win/lose I think he´ll be man enough to handle it properly.
