If Calzaghe/Pavlik goes ahead, where should it be held?

Well considering I'm closer to the USA, it should be in the USA

 

Pavlik / Taylor 2 drew just over 7,000 fans.
Joe sold 50,000 tickets for the Kessler fight so you have to go where the money is and that's Wales.

 

Considering that Calzaghe has said this is likely his last fight, it only seems right to have it in front of his fans in Wales. Plus, he's the champ at 168. Pavlik should come to him.

Joe doesnt NEED to do anything, he is THE man at SMW and LHW something which in the Ring rankings has never occured before. Anyyone who watched the Hopkins fight and can judge it impartially and objectively can see clearly that Joe won probably by a wider margin than he was given. Plus who has EVER looked good against Hopkins (and dont say Jones because he too looked way down on his usual peformances of the time) . The guy has been a consuamte professional, a genuine nice guy who hasnt finshed last, you can look at almost every modern greats esume and pick out other extremely good or great fighters that they didnt fight. He has fought ouside of his home country more times then any of his so called main rivals of his generation and he has carried himself the way a true champion should. I am sure in his heart of hearts Kelly Pavlik knows that he is the one with everything to prove and to do that it is his turn to step into the lions den.

P.S> I was fan of B-Hop before his ingracious ramblings after clearly being beaten. No chamipons pedigree there.

 

Wales ..More money ..Who really knows Kelly Pavlik outside the die hards ?? I can't imagine it doing very big in the US when Kelly isn't a household name ..The ball would be in Joe's court not Kelly's ..

Calzaghe is done with the US. He'll be fighting in Cardiff for his last fight, probably against Roy Jones Junior.

 

There's a small chance after the Lockett fight that one or the other might call the other out. And if the other takes the bait.... Pavlik's next fight is set for Rubio but there's no written agreement yet. Nor is Pavlik bound to fight a mandatory after Lockett. ( Lockett is a mandatory ) As for Calzaghe his next fight is set for November leaving plenty of time to schedule an interim fight. As for Calzaghe's mandatory.... he's pretty much made it clear he has no more interest in defending his SMW belts. He's after legacy now.

So it's possible. Likely? That depends on just how much these fighters want each other. Pavlik I think would go for it. Calzaghe's a much bigger question mark.

 

MSG ... I think that Pavlik is a big draw and can fill seats w/ butts. If they fought at MSG they could possibly sell it out together --

I highly doubt that Joe would be open to fighting in his last fight in front of 20 thou against the middle weight champ as opposed to fighting him in Wales in front of 50 ..In the Garden the fight would sell out I don't disagree there but there is more money in Wales ..

 

It doesn't matter where he fights ... if he's fighting against Pavlik he will lose.

 

I'm from the USA and agree with you. No since in Calzage coming back to the US. He almost got screwed in the Hopkins fight, plus I just don't see a better atmosphere than a fight in GB with 50,000 vocal fans.

I personally would like to Joe C. retire, I think he has done enough.
