If Calzaghe rejects Jones for Pavlik, will he still be a "ducker"?

Is Dawson the same guy who was recently exposed by Johnson ? I recall people writing him off right after the Johnosn fight but now that fight means more than a Jones fight :think

Kelly is a middle weight with 2 title dfenses and he is now a gatekeeper to greatness :think

Jones best days may be behind him but even this version of Jones would make as an exciting fight as either of the two mentioned .I would not be opposed to any of them but none really mean more than the other ..The Hopkins win supercedes any of these fighst with regards to accomplishment !

Joe called, Pavlik answered. Kelly feels he is ready. So "ready" would be 'Kelly's problem'. Joe's if doesn't heed his own call.

What glory to fight old timers? The only two real challenges for Calzaghe are Pavlik and Bute. Young and hungry boxers.

I don't care if it's Jones, Pavlik, Tarver, Dawson, Jonhson. Calzaghe needs to start making these fights happen. That's why I'm not a big Calzaghe fan right now, it takes him and Warren forever to make big fights. Any of these fights will be good for his legacy, all he needs to do is be impressive in them. He's wasted enough time already.

    "still" be a ducker?

noone is saying Calzaghe is still a ducker right now, after fighting Lacy, Kessler, and Hopkins.

but he will always have been a ducker in the eyes of many, since it took so long for him to step it up

    • Lacy was definitely hyped and a solid fight for JC
    • Kessler definitely wasn't a lesser choice than Bute, best win on JCs resume
    • Bika is a pretty awkward fighter and not every fight has to be highly ranked contenders
    • Manfredo was a joke but it was more fame for Joe in the US cause of the contender
    • Bhop was on a different level publicity wise to JC in his prime so that wasn't really ever going to happen until JC beat some more fighters
    • Not sure about Sven Ottke, JC definitely would have smoked him but its surprising that they didn't fight, probably more likely Sven protected his 0 than JC.

joe's already ducked jones the same way he ducked hopkins when it mattered.

warren and JC consciously did this.

pavlik is the best option for joe's resume but the only person talking about 'legacy' after all these years of milking the british public (and it worked) is warren and calzaghe.

Hearing the comments that Warren has made it would be ducking. They seem to think that Pavlik is an easier fight then Jones...Or maybe they are trying to make the fans think that Jones is a tougher fight. No one in thier right mind really thinks that Jones at this point is a tougher fight then Pavlik.

In the end Joe will fight Jones, if he wins he will retire if he loses there will be a rematch unless he gets whacked in the first couple of rounds, at that point Kelly wouldnt need or want to fight Joe he would then want to fight Jones. Either way dont look for this fight between Joe and Kelly to ever take place.

There are quite a lot of plainly stupid posts on this thread.

The moral of the thread appears to be:

    You can't please everybody.

No matter who he fights, he'll be called the 'D' name.

There is no reason Calzaghe should fight Glass Jaw Roy Jones over Pavlik. Pavlik is the much more dangerous fight.
