Everyone will be able to go to the website for the International Boxing Hall of Fame and look him up. Hall of Famers generally are not forgoten, especialy the deserving ones.

I'd say that Calzaghe's popular legacy will be limited in the UK, because outside of the ring, he's not a particularly colourful character, and most of his big fights were shown on satellite TV.

The likes of Bruno, Eubank, Benn, Honeyghan, and Hamed will probably remain longer in the memories of the general public/casual boxing fan.

As a character he's not exactly Ricky Hatton. American sports fans, even the ones who have seen or heard him, haven't seemed to key on any sort of 'it factor' with Joe Calzaghe. He's a "who gives a ****" type figure. His boxing telecasts have all hit the ground with a very dull thud. He's got an uphill battle at ths point.

But, but, but, but, but....Lacy was HYPED! The facts that Lacy won a vacant alphabet title, didn't face any world beaters before he fought Calzaghe, and has looked horrid since he was dominated have been deemed irrelevant by virtue of the fact that he was HYPED! Lacy's paucity of accomplishments as a pro don't matter because a lot of American fans and members of the press who had never even seen Calzaghe fight picked Lacy to KO him. We all know it's almost impossible to beat another fighter even if they do possess a vastly inferior level of skill when people are saying mean things about you on television and the internets. Can you imagine the pain and shame of being called "Calfaggy":scaredas::-(( by anonymous teenaged posters on ESB? Yet Joe managed to overcome this crippling handicap to win in impressive fashion.

    Joe C. = GOAT. :yep

    Just like his cheerleaders!

Calzaghe will be remembered ever fondly on paper with time - I just hope the wins over Hopkins, and particularly Roy Jones are not turned into something they are not. EVERY FAN OF BOXING, should make sure they are not!

Future critics will have a easier time accessing data of todays’ era in boxing than the critics of today over yesteryears boxers.

Imagine, critics now were able to dissect all of Marciano’s opponent in minute details and this is why he is rank lowly in the ATG list. Marciano in the 70’s was played as the ultimate in boxing hierarchy. People then were saying, ‘Nah, Ali’s still not as good as Rocky’. Now, thanks to the critics, writers and historians, everything falls under their own proper perspective
    .
Calsaghe’s position/legacy/status/ranking will depend upon the bias of the future historians/critics/writers. One thing certain is that every minute detail of JC’s opponents will be fully scrutinized; not only anecdotes, footnotes, write-ups, but also fans comments as being now recorded in the internet.

Calzaghe will only be forgotten by some who will try their hardest to forget him, and only because they can't stand him. Everyone else will remember him. Calzaghe did some things in this Roy Jones fight, that very few could ever dream of doing. If you really know boxing, you will know what I am talking about. Just look again at that 3rd round. Freaky stuff. I don't want Chad Dawson fighting Calzaghe, because I want Chad to have a career and not end up like lacy or pavlik.
