I know 2 different weight classes , different records but in terms of retiring undefeated... I believe there is only a handful of champions who retired undefeated, who has the better resume and accomplished more?
I ****ing love Marciano and i'm a paid up JC fan, extremely useless information I know but I felt compelled to share it
Marciano. Marciano at least fought all the best of his time and has a few marquee wins that are probably better than Calzaghe's marquee wins. Six wins over hall of famers versus one, although most of those wins were against guys who were either shot or natural light heavyweights. That said, if Kessler goes on to become a P4P top 5 type fighter, his resume could still edge ahead. Problem is that he's only taken a few fights in his career that look good in retrospect. Most of the marquee names he beat proved themselves to either be done or not as good as people thought they were at the time, and none of the no-names on his resume ever developed into anything special (as opposed to someone like Cotto, who fought a bunch of no-names who later won belts).
When did Calzaghe become the World Super Middleweight Champion? Certainly not 1997. When Marciano became champ, he won the World Heavyweight Title. I long for those days to return. Joe may have had a loss or three, but a lot more credibility.
