Are Calzaghe fans really saying that they would rather Calzaghe fight Dawson in Wales than in the States? Do they really have that little confidence in Calzaghe's chances?
who will they dream up after dawson? Oh and since when did he become a lb for lb talent. your dreaming
no the calzaghe fans would like to go to watch his last fight instead of having to watch 15 **** american fans in vegas or msg giving **** support for there fighters via late night tv.
Beating Sven Ottke would help Calzaghe's legacy much, much more, not to mention what beating Dariusz Michalczewski could do for Calzaghe's ATG ranking! Two fights for me: Ottke at 168 and Michalczewski at 175. First-ballot HOF then for sure...except...hang on...neither is American... ...errrmmmm...it's going to have to be Dawson then...yes...he is the only American ATG who beat a prime Johnson AND Tarver....except Hopkins, but he doesn't count. He's old and Dawson is clearly better because his nickname is "Bad".
don't agree about ottke he isn't rated as a very good fighter because he lost numerous fightes even though his record says otherwise.
Calzaghe will be first ballot regardless of fighting Dawson. You really think beating Chad Dawson is going to propel a guy that far if he wasn't already? He will be appreciated more and more as time passes, much like Lewis. If we get to a stage where the middle weight classes are relatively weak people will look back to guys like Calzaghe, Hopkins and Jones with fond memories.
I really don't see Chad Dawson as having the kind of proven stature that is going to make a compelling case for promoting him to first ballot if he isn't already. That said, if he is going to fight on its the fight I'd most like. Kessler rematch second.
That's a lot better than the top 4 names on Calzaghe's resume prior to Hopkins. And there's no way around it - Dawson has the best current resume at LHW of all the light heavyweights. Sure beating Dawson helps Calzaghe's long-term legacy, but I just don't think he cares about his legacy. If he did, his career would look completely different than it does. In the meantime, Dawson wouldn't be a big money fight (relatively), and it would be a fight against someone who's actually a threat to beat him. It's exactly the type of fight Calzaghe has never taken. Each time Calzaghe has previously taken on a dangerous fighter, it's been for a career high purse.
What the ****, what a load of bollox from the original poster, I feel like marking him down for being a numpty or a troll.
