Joe Calzaghe should thank his lucky stars that he is not American. His career path would've been much more difficult and I doubt we'd be talking about him with as much high regard as we do now.

He wouldn't be as highly ranked a super middle in America as compared with super middle weights from the U.K. where some experts have him as high as the 4th best super middle.

My only objection about Calzaghe is the level of his "greatness". I don't deny that the man is a very good fighter with great ability to adapt over the years and nice skills, BUT his resume IS weak no matter how u see it, in order for ppl to call him "great".

Before some of u jump on me, i don't CARE whose fault it is that he didn't fight elite fighers he could have fought, the fact is he didn't fight such guys. Also, i don't care if there weren't ANY elite fighters in his division during his prime years.

I personally don't call Wladimir Klitschko "great" just because he is considered the best right now, in a weak division. He (Klitschko) IS a very respected champion and very good fighter (same goes for Joe), but if he was among Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis and the like ppl would just rank him in the top 10. Hell, ppl even bash Wlad right now for his chin and stuff, wouldn't they bash Calzaghe for having Kessler, 43 year old B-Hop, an over the hill Eubank and Lacy (ffs) as his best victories?

IF Calzaghe was American he wouldn't even be undeafeated right now, and would be just some above average slapping SMW.

    marciano was 185 /190
calzaghe would look anaemic standing next to him.

he simply does not have the body type to put muscle mass on and bulk up.

his walking around weight is about 185/190 but his fighting weight is not near that.

hopkinsa looks big and strong at light heavy and marketly different from what he looked like physically as a middleweight were calzaghe looked exactly the same 168 to 175

If he only fought bums, hopefully you don't put Hopkins on the list of Calzaghes better victories, because that would be mighty hypocritical.

Only Andrade and Joe is lucky too because if they were many Mexicans in this weight class he would have lost his first pro fight.
