Assuming that he went undefeated just like now, he will still be called the same, this time by the Brits.
Well, that ends that argument. If he was Eddie Murphy's favorite fighter, he must have been big in America.
Oh ****, you were dead serious..... That is the most unintentionally funny thing I have read in a while man. Keep it up.
Lacy,( and I'm not accusing you, cause I do not recall your name in this group) was almost worshipped on here......he was gonna kill Joe..he beat all these US guys, then Joe beat him all 12...who else in that weight class could whip lacy all 12....no one..no one NOW and no one PAST and don't beven THINK RJJ...one shot from Lacy and RJJ would be in a coma for decades to come
So Lacy was hyped? The guy was the first American fighter in a division that had been held hostage for nearly 10 years, and on top of that, he had an exciting style. It wasn't HYPE from what he had done, though. No, it was HYPE based on what he could do. And even a lot of that was based on his damn physique (which literally had people walking out of the damn weigh in refusing to fight him). Was Lacy the first guy to get hyped like this? Certainly not. Was Calzaghe the only guy to beat a young undefeated guy and then later not get as much credit because the young guy turned out to be not as good as he was in the first place? Again, no.
Look, I'm going to be honest with you. Lacy was never big in the U.S. He was apart of the 2000 olympic team. The only member of that team that people paid attention to was Jermain Taylor. Taylor got the HBO contract and all the accolades. Lacy was stuck fighting on Showtime and never got much publicity. The only reason I found out about the guy was because he was in Fight Night 2004.
