If Calzaghe was still around, his legacy would sure have increased!!!!

With the guys fighting in the super 6 and Bute, I can't help but think Calzaghe is now retired, no one would ever question his legacy if he fought all those guys in the division and beat them all. Too bad he won't come back though..

I was never a big fan of Joe,but i think he got out at the right time.He had a lot of fights and he knew he was at the end of his career. He may well have lost to one of these guys but not cos they were better but cos he had stayed around to long. You cant go on forever and i dont see the point in carrying on until you get beaten. He had done all he wanted to do in the sport.

If ol' slappy was boxing now rather than blowing lines, he'd get ****in' demolished by Lucian Bute and embarrasingly outboxed by either Andre.

Erm the problem is he didnt. Joe could have fought many big names at 60 and 75 when 68 was a wasteland but he CHOOSE not to. He was making easy money defending the WBO on his home turf. Joe was never interested in legacy. Only money. Any reflective reasoning now after the horse is bolted is pretty worthless.

Not a fan as i said, but i think he would beat Bute.On points after 12 dull rounds of course. As for the Andre`s Calzaghe was good at long fights and i think he would throw and land enough to beat both of them as well.Fights with guys like that are the ones he liked best,he might lose a few rounds early but Dirrel has shown he gets tired.Ive not really seen enough of Ward to pass too much judgement but he looks the same as Dirrel but uses his head to better effect.

Calzaghe would loose to Ward and Bute. Both guys are far better boxers than Joe ever was. 68 currently is an awesome division with alot of challenges.

Calzaghe would have easily beaten Ward, even with Ward's illegal tactics, esp. Ward's headbutt. Ward would be crying to his referee for protection. Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless he got all his fights in his hometown and he needs his referee to cheat for him.

From what ive seen of Bute Calzaghe would have had few problems with him.I agree he could have faced some better fighters in his career. The only ones that stand out as genuine good wins were Lacy and Kessler and he struggled with Kessler. He lost to Hopkins(i think bad decision)but held his own with him and it was close. He would beat Bute in another boring slap fest. Its annoying but true.

Calzaghe beat Hopkins. Bute will knock Ward out, but Ward refused to fight anyone unless he gets his hometown and his own personal referee to protect him and cheat for him with his illegal head butts.

A pair of bums. They could get in the ring with Joe as his bucket boy only. 46-0 JC The Legend. :happy

Aww, that's so cute. You think slappy would fight a prime fighter... Precious.

Calzaghe would beat everyone in the Super 6. He was a level above them at his best. Also, to the guy who was saying he could have fought guys at 160 i'd like to know how he thought this might happen, given that Calzaghe couldn't make 160 in a million years and it is well-documented that the number 1 guy at 160 (Hopkins) during Calzaghe's reign at 168 pulled out of a proposed fight with him years ago. He could have moved up to 175 a lot sooner than he did, but aside from RJJ there was nothing there to write home about either and RJJ was just as happy as Calzaghe to dominate in a weak division for years.

Not to mention the lack of random blood testing (they do that in Denmark)

Yeah, at least Calzaghe didn't duck top guys from his OWN division (although Ottke and Beyer definitely ducked him)

The day after Joe whipped the next American superstar Lacy the Yanks on the board looked like this.
