Dude, there has been talk of Tarver possibly being a Hall of Famer since his 2nd win over Roy...the boxing media in this country sucks. For some strange reason, every boxing critic in this country seems to think that this is where the "big" boys fight. Man, boxing is a dead sport in this country!! High School football gets more press than boxing in the USA!! The sports fans in this country would much rather support WWE than Calzaghe vs. Jones.

Fight fans in this country are in denial!!

I just wonder if everyone would have a different interpretation of Calzaghe's career had he fought in America his entire career.

If Calzaghe was a yank, it would be exactly the same on here on the UK fans would be slagging him instead.

Had his career been as protected as Joe's middle career was perceived to be (in between Eubank and Jermain Taylor) he would have been like whiter Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr and not given the props - Sort of a Super Middle Paul Spadafora or something.

I don't think it would be as different as you think.

    "If Calzaghe were an American..."

He would've fought at least some of the following and thus wouldn't be labeled an ATG cherry picker: prime Hopkins, prime Jones, Winky Wright, Jermain Taylor, Chad Dawson...

I mean come on... I like Kessler, but after watching Lacy last night Joe's win over him doesn't mean squat. Joe better hope Mikkel takes out a lot of big names before he calls it quits.

LOL you put Dawson up there now, when Calzaghe is 37 and Dawson is only getting to the party now. And Taylor who got beaten by one of the most one dimensional fighters currently a champion. The rest would all be tough victories for Joe to get, but they would have been good fights that the American's would have at least given Joe some respect for, if he had lost them as an american he would have gotten credit for.

You mean the lacy we saw last night or the lacy that was the undefeated SMW Champ? In most observers' opinions, these are two completely different fighters.

Lol, if Calzaghe were American we would have forced his cherry picking ass to fight some real competition instead of those bums he fought for 10 years hiding out in Wales while American greats like Toney, Jones, Hopkins, De La Hoya, Wright, Mosley ect ect got old from fighitng eachother and fighting real competition you schmuck.

Im really tired of you Euro's trying to tell Americans about boxing. As if Americans dont have a host of fighters with legend status being made every decade. Compared to true warriors like Duran, Chavez, Tito, Monzon, ect, Calzaghe is nothing Americans havent seen before in a protected foreign fighter.

Get the hell of this forum with your silly bull****. Mayweather is criticized every day for his "cherry picking" but atleast he's fought Hofers, and P4P fighters his whole career. His resume wipes the floor with calslappies, whats that say about your boy noob?
