His legacy will never surpass Mayweather’s. Floyd has beat many great fighters. Canelo has beat many good fighters. Thats all there is to it to be completely honest.

Both moved up multiple weights so thats negligible in terms of head to head in legacy.

Can’t really see any argument to put Canelo ahead unless he unifies the heavyweight division lol, but to do that he would have to eat some more ‘tainted’ mexican red meat.

I think I’ve mentioned before that the reason I say no has nothing to do with Canelo.. Simply put the guys around him haven’t been creating their own legacies to say Canelo beat some greats. There is no long term champion with 11 defense like a Genaro Hernandez or P4P #4 Diego Corrales, or Oscar, Shane, Cotto and especially Pacquiao.. There isn’t even a Ricky Hatton or a upcoming great fighter such as himself(Canelo) that was available for Floyd..

The fighters in this era simply play it safe until they get big money fights.. Bivol is good and this could be Canelo’s best victory if he wins free of controversy.. But this win would be much better if Bivol had already beaten Beterbiev like Shane Mosley had just defeated the boogeyman Tony Margarito.. I put his GGG win on par with Floyd’s over Jose Luis Castillo..

You are correct but I’m simply stating that those type of guys with those resumes are not around today for Canelo to beat to have him elevated above Floyd.. Beterbiev has unified and have another unification coming up so when Canelo beats him that would rate as a great win even though he will be past prime.. Plant, BJS, Bivol, Jacobs, Charlo, Benavidez, Makubu, Andrade etc.. simply has done nothing close to great in their careers besides take safe fights in hopes of cashing out..

None of this is Canelo’s fault as he’s doing all the leg work that these guys refuse to do.. Not his fault that GGG/Charlo/Andrade/BJS/Plant haven’t fought each other or Bivol vs Beterbiev hasn’t happened.. I honestly believe Eddie didn’t try to make that match happen because he wanted to save Bivol to lock Canelo in a deal..

He would only surpass Floyd if he beat Floyd or Floyd unbeat him.
    Neither is going to happen.
Floyd beat Conelo. Lennox beat Vitali. etc. That's history.

Could happen, especially if he beats GGG, Beterbiev, Charlo and Benevidez right after Bivol? With those names on his resume he could go down as a top 15 ON THE all time list. Never say never.

No. Too many dodgy decision, the PEDs bust, and in the end, Floyd beat him.

But there is more to those victories. Canelo was young and weight drained, and the lennox vs vitali fight was stopped way to soon. Did you see tyson fury vs otto? Imagine if they stopped that fight because of the same type cut. They just wanted to save lennox because he was about to get the worst beating of his life.

He's already surpassed Floyd. The rest would be gravy.

Yet half the guys mentioned went on to regain titles again. Not prime but still very good.
