at 154 he could be beaten by:

    Either Charlo Bro
    Andrade
Lara (IMO this fight was a draw the first time around)

Unfortunately, all of these guys have limited following, but I'd love to see any of em against Canelo.

This fight is nothing but a way to get back into the picture at 154. I hope the next fight is against Lemiuex at 160.

Well we'll have to disagree. I think they're worried that GGG might just batter him from pillar to post in a one sided beatdown and THAT would end his marketability.

    :deal That's it.

For what it's worth I think Canelo would hold his own for 4-5 rounds before getting worn down. I think it would be a better fight than people think.

WTF, If? Canelo will do a bigger job on Smith than he did on glass jawed fraud Amir Khan.

I agree, & "If" he cannot beat a lame duck like Smith then he should give up, this is easier than Khan IMO...take a chance & stop being greedy Oscar!

I think it may be competitive for longer than that. It's a shame GBP don't agree. If they did then they'd make the fight as being competitive is all Canelo needs to win on the cards. We've seen that before and I'm sure we will again.

Einstien? Jajaja! The dude is like a lobotomy victim without the drool.

I agree his popularity has taken a hit with hardcore mexican fans but hes still a huge celebrity in the general mexican community. Oscar is counting on that ethno-centric base of support to still sell tickets to canelos fights.

Canelo is a money making machine for oscar. Better for oscar to keep the gravy train rolling by feasting on guys 25lbs lighter at fight time rather than risk a mystique breaking beatdown. Good for business but bad for the sport.

:rofl O$CAR messed up... Canelo messed up... and they will not recover their reputation.

:hey O$CAR's plotting & scheming simply failed to protect Canelo and resulted with...

FORCING CANELO TO SURRENDER THE BELT

:p The fat lady is now singing...

    IT"S ALL OVER NOW !!!

 Canelo's reputation will remain TARNISHED until he meets GGG in the ring.

All your excuses add up to BS !!!

Get a new crusade... you already lost this one.

    ;)

    Excuses? What Excuses?

Simply giving you some clues as to what exactly is going on, but can't really help you when you refuse to get your head out your ass.:hi:

If his fight against Liam "World Breaker" Smith is on PPV what do you expect for December which will be on regular HBO? I think someone in the lines of Salka vs Canelo!

Be honest with yourself for a minute. What really makes you think Canelo will fight GGG next yeat? Canelo is fighting for a JrMW belt and will more than likely have an easier fight than Smith on December on REGULAR HBO. How is that preparing for the best MW?

Canelo vs GGG will happen for the simple reason that it's(Canelo vs GGG) the biggest fight in the business. Huge rewards even for the loser(which more than likely will be Canelo) in this fight.

Oscar is in the business of making money by staging big fights not in the business of protecting Canelo, and from the looks of it this fight is already way bigger now than it was a few months ago even if Canelo's reputation is taking a huge hit.

Do some of you really believe that Oscar would rather make pennies on the dollar by protecting Canelo?

For better or worse, Oscar is trying to use some aspects of the Mayweather vs Pac money-making blueprint. Only problem IMO is that Canelo does not have higher profile alternatives (Hattons, Margaritos, Mosleys, Maidanas, etc) that either FLoyd and Pac did to keep the "marinating" from taking longer.

In regards to the Smith fight at 154, it's simple. Canelo becomes a champ again at a weight he has been claiming he's most comfortable at. Won't erase any of the bad press he's been getting but will fool some of the casuals and the controversy will only fuel the speculations and anticipation of his next opponent. WIll he stay at 154 to unify with one of the other champs or will he now test the waters at 160 to get ready for GGG. In the meantime, Golden Boy will hope that GGG's profile has benefited from all the controversy and Canelo bashing and his own PPV drawing power is benefited by this, thereby making the clash a huge PPV success.

Canelo vs GGG in 2017. Wait for it.:deal
