Speed yes, agility yes, power maybe. The area where Golovkin is perceived as being unquestionably superior to Jacobs is toughness. Here is the litmus test on whether Canelo is a true puncher at middleweight. If he can drop/stop Jacobs, then he is...but if he throws bombs and Danny eats them up and smiles, nope. Also, the Jr. rivalry wasn't the only reason a lot of Mexicans used to dislike Canelo, in fact it long predated that. He was a whiny little snot-nosed emo ***** (and bully, see: the Archie Solis incident), and they resented him for not "looking" Mexican and thought he needed to prove himself.
Yes this is why this fight is so intriguing! If Jacobs can hold it together and not crumble we are looking at a defining moment for Daniel. Certain Mexicans really started to dislike camelo when the possibility of him and Chavez jr fighting came about!! It was years in the making. A lot of Mexican analyst predicted Chavez jr to have the better career! They used to laugh at the fact that canelo could compete with jr before the Martinez fight! All that hype canelo got Chavez jr got and more! It wasn’t until he got starched by martines did the networks jump ship.
It was Chavez idea so why blame canelo? Chavez drained himself by being undisciplined and asking for the fight at that weight!
