If Canelo gets this WBO belt....

I knew there was a rule like this but I didn't know if it applied to only a single sanctioning body or they all did this. I couldn't find it anywhere though. I know it's something that has happened in the recent past though.

Regardless, Saunders can't dictate purse splits against Canelo like GGG was able because Canelo is the mandatory in this case. If Saunders decides to say no to everything Canelo wants and takes it to a purse bid Canelo can simply pull out since he isn't obligated to enforce his mandatory status. The champion is the one who can't pull out. That's the entire point of a mandatory.

Also, I like this fight. If Saunders comes into this fight motivated then he has the potential to pull up the offset. Also Saunders has a way of making fight hype build up entertaining. He isn't going to hold back when it comes to Canelo and his diva antics. But if Canelo wins then he's a legitimate force at 160 and finally has a reason to act like he can push people around. But until then GGG is the man at 160 and Canelo is the challenger.

 

As a GGG fan I'd prefer if Canelo wins the belt off Saunders as they've obviously thought this one out,clever stuff as nobody knew why theyed picked Liam Smith at the time,I just think it brings more to the fight with the victor taking all the spoils,when did this last happen?

 

I made the point that GGG and Canelo will be gunning for BJS in 2017 months ago.

 

Yeah good post,Saunders n Canelo would be a good fight as Canelo would be facing someone his own weight and if GGG beats Jacobs and Canelo beats Saunders then it just makes a fight between Canelo and GGG even better.
Before Saunders last fight I had him doing well against Canelo but inactivity and fitness cost Saunders big time and I think it could have done something to him mentally,still his wins over Eubank and Lee are good wins and he needs to draw on that to beat Canelo,anything less than a knockout or obvious beat down would be a loss to Saunders in Canelos back yard?

 

What re that belt at 154?i think a lot of us predicted Canelo and GGG going after Saunders but at the time I never thought that winning that belt off Smith would place him as mandatory for Saunders at 160,makes sense now why he killed himself to make 154 it had nothing to do with that division where he has plenty of competition,more to do with being made Saunders mandatory,obviously Oscar had talked with the WBO about this?

 

GBP will undoubtely petition the WBO to increase the % if it goes to bids, but my guess is, they'll try and offer BJS in the neighborhood of 6 mil, and if FWank aint prepared to fight it out to host the event, prove he's still a major player on the promotional stage, he'll sell BJS belt to Oscar and allow the fight to be made in CanelHOEville TX
