That's questionable. Depends who he beats. Dirrell and Ward are unproven prospects at the moment and Kessler has already been beaten by Calzaghe. It would give him a good-looking resume, but as Grant stated depends what the likes of Pascal and Dirrell went on to do with their careers.

I think Froch would stop Taylor sooner if they fight again.

This is a bit of an exaggeration IMO. Pascal didn't win any tournament. He did beat a light heavyweight belt holder, but Diaconu was not a top five ranked light heavy. Still a good win though.

I agree, if (a big IF) Froch remains undefeated after this tourney then he has trumped Calzaghe, IMO. He no longer needs to talk about JC anymore either as he's involved in the bigtime fights and events now. This is gonna be awesome and it's great to see there is no bad blood between all of the fighters:

whatever he does or whoever he beats froch can't hold a candle to calzaghe

calzaghe has forgotten more boxing then froch will ever possess

i do think he can achieve more though in relation to his talent, thats because JC grossly underachieved

Would surpass JC's achievements in my book and would have done more for the credibility of British boxing too.

Would not make him a better fighter then Calzaghe but in many ways that would make winning this even more of an achievement for The Cobra.

    Crap. Complete, utter crap.

Calzaghe took the title from Eubank who was still good enough to jump two weight classes and show a better effort against Carl Thompson than David Haye. Nobody in the tournament has proven himself to be on the one level with Eubank.

Then he went a decade undefeated. He didn't lose a boxing match from age 17 - 36. That is ****ing unbelievable, because even the greats had their lesser nights and lost to lesser opponents over a long career. Late in his career, with brittle hands, he unified his title against undefeated beltholders twice. He beat a version of Hopkins good enough to school Pavlik. If Pavlik would show up in the tournament, he would be considered a tough challenge for the others. Kessler is arguably the most proven fighter in the tournament and Calzaghe already beat him.

Froch needed Taylor to give the fight away to pull off the best win in his career so far. Nobody ever exposed Calzaghe as a limited fighter the way Taylor did to Froch. If Froch wins this tournament somehow, of course he becomes a great fighters and p4p top 5 guy, but his career would have to show consistency over the following years to surpass Calzaghe.

I don't think he would surpass Calzaghe, it depends alot on the other fights as well....If Dirrell and Ward lose most their fights then they would be seen as overated, wouldnt do much for Frochs legacy, his biggest wins would be AA and Kessler.

He wouldn't be far behind anyway, but be won't go unbeaten so it doesnt matter.

I think AA could be the suprise failure of this tournament

I don't think that would be any gayer, even if they were all bumming each other

Alright.... say Froch wins the whole thing but then fights Hopkins and gets DESTROYED!!! I'd have to still say that Calzaghe was the greatest super middle of all time (taking into account super middle is still a pretty new division.... but it's still very impressive though)

That being said I still hope Froch retires undefeated and gets to fight as many top names in the sport as possible.

More chance of me having a threesome with Megan Fox and Adriana Lima than this happening.
