If Carl Froch manages to beat Jermain Taylor, it will be a huge achievement!

How can you say that? Kessler performed at a very high level, blowing these very good fighters out very impressively...! (Mundine, Beyer, Andrade) His skills didn't look like they've declined either, lately...

Kessler's not the Champ, but he's definitely the No.1 guy in the division...almost all commentators agree about that. All the ones that don't have Bute at the top, by the way, not Taylor...and certainly not Froch.

Yesterday I said that if Froch beats Taylor in any manner whatsoever, it means JT is shot to ****, and should retire before he gets hurt. Today I'll say, DITTO! Jermain Taylor beat Hopkins twice, he held Winky to a draw, and made history the night he became the first man who ever forced Pavlik to go 12 rounds. If a fighter like that loses to a guy like Froch, he should find a new way to make a living.

Taylor's not taking risks against the top fighters in the division, Kessler or Bute. He's fighting a fighter who's unproven at world-class level, who won it against a prospect, for the WBC title.;) And Froch is fighting a MW who turned out to not be as great as expected, and who's still unproven as a top fighter at SMW...;)...see? Many ways of spinning it...

Sorry, Bodysnatcher...I usually agree with you, but this time, I think your frustration with Kessler's situation is getting in the way of your objectivity...:good

No! Why can't you accept that Froch could prove to be better than he's proved to be so far? Or, at least, if Taylor fails to perform as expected, why not agree that Froch might be better than we thought, but that it's still not certain that he is, but that the weight might not suit Taylor as much as we thought it would?:good

I can see where, as a Pavlik fan, you'd have to say that...

I agree with Decebal; if Froch beats what is an obviously game Taylor, he'll get my respect for the win.

In order for me to give Froch credit he would have to beat a version of Jermain who fights at least as good as he did in the Pavlik rematch. If JT performs that well, Froch will lose a wide UD.

Jermain has been in the ring with BHop twice, and Hops is a living legend. Winky is a 3 time world titlist who holds wins over a prime McKart X 3, Mosely X 2, and Felix Trinidad. He fought Pavlik X 2, and Pavlik has knocked out more guys than Froch has even fought, including 7 or 8 who had never been stopped by ANYONE. Even Ouma and Spinks held world titles.

Froch has fought Pascal! Froch could hardly even hit Pascal flush, but Omar Pittman, a journeyman with a 38% KO ratio, damn near KOed Pascal.

Sorry Decebal, your one of my favorite posters, but if Froch wins, it means Jermain needs to retire.

It hurts - but you are spot on. I, and many others, joined the boxing threads to make pressure for the Calzaghe- Kessler fight -and it works. Time is now to make the same pressure to get Kessler back in business. As you stat, Kessler isn't the #1 anymore.

But you said you were impressed with him against Lacy too, no?...if he fights as well as against Lacy and gets beaten, surely that must count for something! (I agree with you that this is Taylor's fight to lose...but IF, IF Froch beats him...)

Sure...so if Taylor performs reasonably well, and Froch beats him, it's already a result. How much of a result depends on the level of performance, of course.

Right, so Froch's proved **** all at world class level so far. We agree on that.

Why? What if we both agree that Taylor's performed really well on the night but Froch somehow managed to rise to the occasion, survive a bad beating and then catch him big with a monster shot and KO him? Why should Taylor retire after that, necessarily? And would it not prove that Froch would have a chance against anyone, because of his power/heart/toughness/chin, say?

    :good

Who is, then? Andrade, who in your view KOed Bute? Or the winner of Taylor v. Froch?

...See...one thing is to campaign and spin things to get things your way, but another is to be fair and objective...there's no way Kessler's no longer No.1.:deal

Those are all fine arguments, but in my opinion, Froch has two chances to beat JT: Slim and none; the bad news is I already talked to Slim, and he can't make it to the fight.

IF, and this is a HUGE if, but if Froch beats a version of Jermain that looks really good, I'd have to give him credit. Froch has the speed of a racing turtle, and he bumbles around the ring with his hands down and his chin in the air. Can't see a guy like that beating a proven world class fighter.
