Stats in boxing are really dodgy for a couple of reasons: 1) Fewer "games played" - in stats terms, it's a smaller sample size than other sports. A W-L record is easily skewed by just a couple of performances; in other sports, hundreds/thousands of games are played. 2) Participants compete against wildly varying levels of competition. In other sports, over the course of a season, the competion is more evenly spread. Even in tennis, the most analogous head-to-head sport, you repeatedly compete against the top participants. While potentially impressive at a glance, stats in boxing are the most context-sensitive of any sport I can think of. (Another good example is the ko% and # rounds lost for Vitali Klit - they are incredible numbers, but are undoubtedly balanced by a less-than-perfect resume.)
No they dont mean much in the context of who Valuev has fought ...hes the most overrated fighter in the world .... i would go as far as saying hes crap !!! .... just a big lumux who should be in the wwe acting with the great khali n co.. Get him in with someone who matters aka klits , haye , povetkin etc then we will see the last of this useless excuse of a boxer ....
Numbers and stats usually do mean something, but in that case with Valuev, it doesn't mean a thing. Marciano was an amazing fighter, I can still remember listening on the radio to hear Marciano fight.
Which is why you are not a boxing historian like I. Marciano fought at around 185lbs in his prime. This makes him a naturally a small cruiserweight.
and everyone's so impressed by your wealth of knowledge.:-( Dumbass. If the division didn't exist, he wasn't a cruiserweight.:deal End of story. :hi:
That would of been a disgrace. Those kinda of records should be left alone, and only broken by true fighters, and future legends, not some losers like Valuev. Id honestly would stop watching the HW's if it wasn't for Chagaev beating Valuev.... I wouldn't even bother with that garbage. And honestly tho, Valuevs record should have like, 3 or so losses on it, and im being generous.
What's really impressive of his record is his 43 ko's, U can't compare with that dumb freak of nature
LMFAO boxing historian...Man I know my ****....I know he was 185 and I know that was about the size of a HW back than... Im not questioning that today he would be a CW and not a HW....I'm making a smart a$$ comment and saying that even though Rocky was 185 and would be a CW right now he was still a HW and can still be compared to today's HW's in a myth or lb 4 lb sense...n as far as boxing knowledge you wouldn't know where to begin as to what I know and not..:deal
It would not have meant anything. Marciano was THE Heavyweight Champion. Valuev is just a beltholder. Now if he unified all the belts that would be a different story. But being 50-0 and a WBA beltholder does not mean squat.
