If Clottey actually tried, does he have the tools to beat Pacquiao?

Yeah if Canelo had tried he would have beat Mayweather as well.

 

Hell no he doesn't. I've been saying this for a long time, even back when this fight hasn't happened yet and people(none of them will admit they existed) were picking Clottey to win. Clottey is a gate keeper at best. Someone that will give you a decent fight but will eventually fold. Just watch his fights with Cotto and even Corrales(RIP), he had them both hurt seriously at some point but never follows because his stamina is terrible. He definitely has skills but nothing elite.

 

He is elite, he should be running things. Speed, skills, great defense but a NONEXISTANT heart. He should have been perhaps second fiddle to Floyd, but with that heart he deserves his current obscurity.

Clottey was trying in the first round until he got hit with a pacquiao right jab/hook that stunned him. After that he shelled up because he knew the monster that was in front of him.

Because he does not have a Champion mentality....he is simply satisfied to be in the ring with them and then complains once the inevitable loss is announced!

He already has talked himself out of winning before the Championship fight starts because he is not a Champion nor ever will be.

He doesn't think like a Champ....once he made a handful of cash he disappeared on a spending spree!!!!
