Not sure about elite, but right at the door. Definitely World Class. Clottey arguably beat Cotto and was highly competitive w/ Margarito and Williams. Dude is a huge welter, punches hard, and has a spoiler type defense and workrate. A handful for ANYONE.

TBE?....jk....but if he opened up more, would've won some of those close losses he had and would've been an all around elite fighter imo.

You can't be robbed of what you GAVE AWAY.

Also no "elite" fighter gets dominated and blanked 12-0 by ANY man….Pacquiao made him look like a dummy.

I do respect Clottey though - not an easy fight for anybody…but you fools are confused.

If... that word is just rather pointless in boxing hypotheticals.

There is a reason he has grown to fight the way he does (defensive and conservative) whether its because he gasses more then we know when he opens up or gets hurt easier then we know, or just doesnt like the adversity that comes with being fatigued, no top tier fighter just doesnt do an obvious thing like punch more for no reason... especially when its known to him and the world that its why he loses fights. Theres a reason he fights like that. So saying if he opened up more and was relentless is changing who he is as a fighter, and is just one of a billion what ifs in boxing. Maybe he gets stopped late if he decides to open up... maybe he gasses and loses the late rounds anyways... maybe he would be undefeated.

The only sure thing that would happen, is he would be more popular and probably be paid better.

The dude is a legit fighter though. Lost against cotto but made it tough. Wore down judah (then again... at welter judah hasnt beaten too many top tier fighters) of course pac owned him but im looking forward to seeing him back in the mix. I think canelo might have been smart to swerve that fight (for good reason)

If he was more aggressive, he wouldn't be Clottey.

No, because he lacks the stamina.

When it comes to stamina and toughness Clottley is pretty much second to none at 147lbs. I feel he proved he is a great against Cotto and Margarito but he is not up there with Mayweather and Pacquiao.

I still think Cotto vs. Clottey would be a very good fight now.
