McNamara Has Ideas

One of the exceptions is Jim McNamara, Gallagher's trainer who carefully has mapped a campaign for Marty and believes the fight will be Galento's modus exist from the local ring picture.

"Gallagher asked for the return match with Galento," explained McNamara, "and the only favors we asked were that the bout be for 15 rounds instead of 10 and that we draw a referee who would see that no punches are 'sneaked' in the breakaway."

Jack Dempsey, Galento's handler, agreed to the 15 rounds requested by Gallagher and Heinie Miller has been assigned to referee. He should have no trouble breaking the contestants cleanly.

"Galento's has only one weapon," continued McNamara, "a sweeping left hook. He popped Marty with it in the first round of their last go but even with that bad getaway Marty was the stronger of the two at the finish. That is why we wanted 15 rounds this time.

"Now if Galento had a left UPPER-CUT, or a right hand to match his left," concluded McNamara, "we'd say Galento should win again. But Tony has only that outside left hook and we've got it figured out. It isn't going to hit Marty on the button and Marty is going to beat Galento with straight counter punches. Don't be surprised if he stops Galento. Gallagher has surprise this town before, when the wise ones tabbed him as finished.
