The problem with Mayweather is he's not a likeable character to the majority however history will remember him well and I don't think many will argue he was the better of the two when they look back, in fact it's surprising how much opinions have changed already in a short space of time now the Pacquiao hype machine has hit the skids and that opinion will only get stronger unless Pacquiao either beats him or Floyd suffers a RJJ style collapse.

"Prime" is very flaky and very dependent on circumstances that could be largely out of a fighter's control. I've seen people claim Leonard wasnt prime when Duran beat him, or that Hearns was green when Leonard beat him -- it's agenda driven nitpicking and revisionist history.
