Vacates, and Floyd retires (leaving us with no rematch), what will be Miguel's next move? Seem's like he will be in a weird/tricky position, IMO. 154 will be dead. He'd have avoided Golovkin. Another big money fight with Floyd would have disappeared. He won't go near 147. What will be his next move?
I think Maidana would go up to 154 to fight him. It would be a good follow up. I think Mexican's would still buy knowing it'd be another all action fight and they would probably root for Maidana as well
after a 20 mil plus payday he could prob walk away and be ok...cotto is prob in a very good situation with his money.....although it would prob be very hard to walk away on and pass up more after winning that fight.... a fight with andy lee at msg would prob do very well especially if lee beats saunders
Fellas, he just said yesterday Freddie has him feeling he's got at least another two or three years in him.
he might.....but its not like he gets all this money up front from them for his 4 fights.....he just would not receive the rest of the money he was guaranteed for his next 2 fights most likely....if he were to retire like i said..i think an andy lee fight at msg would do pretty good if lee still had the wbo strap and beat saunders.....
Good point, it is a strange position to be in. Many expect him to vacate, but I think he will fight GGG, though he'll try for a catchweight.
thats cool....i like miguel....just hope he doesnt hang on too long or catch a beating somewhere ....but he has looked good and rejuvenated
yeah he might...i mean if he were to take out canelo hed have to be feeling pretty good man imagine cotto reeling of canelo and ggg at the end of his career? youd have to reconsider his legacy...which is already pretty darned good
If it ain't broke, don't fix it...:roll: Miguel's "reign" at MW will be utterly meaningless if he made GGG aright him at 154/152, or the rest of his defences were there. It's a manufactured reign at best.
They'd probably end up making that awkward much talked about (for some reason) fight with Bradley at 154... Or Bundrage/Charlo winner would be getting a phone call although a Trout rematch might then seem logical to me as well.
Khan had previously expressed interest in Cotto. Like or hate Khan that would be a money fight. If Bundrage beats Charlo, I think he'd fight him. Doubt he'd fight Charlo though. A rematch vs. Trout,
If he can beat Canelo but can't get a Floyd rematch, he may be feeling confident to fight Triple Duck depending on the fashion in which he were to beat Canelo. He's set for life whether he just retires and walks away or not.
