I'd say top 15, that's because he would have fought and beatin every great fighter of his generation. That's unheard of in todays standards of boxing. Only fighter that fans could say he didn't fight and beat would be paul williams because he was one of the best welterweights at the time. But I don't think anybody would make a big deal of it though. Paul Williams would be the last fighter I'd like to see Cotto get in the ring with if he pulls off 2 wins over Mayweather and Pacquaio.
Top 15 is immensely high. I love Cotto but with those two wins he'd make it somewhere in the bottom 70-100, and could see people ranking him even lower, considering all the great fighters that have been.
Beating Floyd and than avenging his loss to Pac would be HUGE! To avenge 2 losses at any level in boxing is big enough; coupled with defeating the best fighter of this era is epic!
Realistically Floyd will win. But then again a Prime Roy would beat Floyd at his own game. God Bless Roy.
So if that's the case than your gonna tell me that you wouldn't rank someone like Hagler top 30? Because if Cotto does what the original poster is asking, he didn't just beat Mayweather and Pacquaio but pretty much EVERY TOP LEVEL fighter from 140-147 and than on top of that becoming a title holder in a third division at 154 should definetly ******t a high ranking Bogotazo. I see your point because theirs tons of great fighters over the last 100yrs. with more fights but I think we would be asking too much of him if he were to do that. But since you said it, where would you rank him?
You don't know that. That's your opinion, Floyd Mayweather is human and Cotto has enough tools too pull it off.
I agree that Roy would beat FMJr prime vs prime. But so would others. And so can others still. But it's pointless. Here you have a good strong fighter against a bigger faster boxer. There is no reason why FMJr should lose. Cotto doesn't have 1 punch KO power. And FMJr doesn't have a glass chin. So the ONLY intrigue is that s many people hope FMJr looses. Beyond that it is a snore fest.
I like Cotto he's come along way since his days at 140. Likeable dude. Love for him to pull of the upset but just don't think it'll happen.
I felt the sameway way about Tarver/Jones 2. I didn't think Tarver could pull it off and didn't believe it, until it happened. Jones had all the advantages to win the rematch and he was actually in great shape for the second fight but their's always gonna be one fighter who's gonna have your number and Cotto could just be that one fighter for Mayweather.
