Cotto is currently #1. Just go out there and keep doing what you do every single fight.

With Money's retirement, Cotto is clearly #1. To become champ, he better hope that someone other than Mosley can rise to #2.

he is already #1, and he won't be champ until he unifies the titles.

Even if Margo gets stripped, I will consider Cotto champ if he beats Margarito and Williams because as things are now, Cotto is WBA, Marg is IBF, PW is WBO, and WBC is vacant.

Cotto is ranked #1 and defeating Margarito, even if he loses the IBF title would mean he would be the de facto unified welterweight champion. Margarito would replace Cotto if he beats him but I think Cotto will retain the title on July 26th.

If he gets by Margarito, only Williams is left.

Read carefuly. I said "a very close loss". His performance that night, given the opposition, was convincing enough to put Mosley ahead of Margo.

Conversely, Margo managed only to beat one-punch wonder Cintron and a couple of C-Level fighters. Other than that, his win against Clottey is marked with an asterisk (Clottey's hand injury) and he lost the both times he tried to reach for higher levels (Santos and Williams).

You can say Margo would beat Williams in a rematch all you want, the argument is just not factual.

Margo threw some 600 punches that night, not a typical number for someone who was allegedly unmotivated and lazy.

Instead of speculating and making ludicrous excuses for your idol, give credit to Williams who simply outworked and outsmarted Margo that night.

    Just the facts, ma'am.

Myself and many others already consider him #1 at welterweight. I did so even before Floyd retired for all the obvious reasons

Margarito is #2 and will remain #2 even after the savage beatdown Cotto will hand him....this one won't be as close as many think....aside from Cotto being the more intelligent ring general, he's much much faster

I did read very carefully, and I am well aware that it was a close loss (not very close, it was close but clear), but I don't think losing to the guy who is #1 is necessarily reason enough to put you at #2 in a division where you have achieved very little else. I think Paul Williams winning 1 of the major belts with a 1st round KO of a top 10 fighter means he should be placed above Mosley for now.

Whether Cintron was a one-punch wonder or not, before he fought Margarito he was an undefeated world champion with a very high KO percentage and was rated around #5 in the division, and Margo didn't just beat him, he obliterated him both times. Regardless of circumstance, he went in with another dangerous top 10 opponent in Clottey and did beat him. Yes he put in a poor performance v Williams, but is Williams worse than Vernon Forrest?

Of course what I wrote is my opinion and not factual, that's what a forum is darling. Williams performed very well on what was an off night for Margarito (I suppose they don't exist either, a poor performance may not be accepted as a real thing by Professor Factual) and deserved the win on the night, but he is not a better fighter and doesn't deserve a higher ranking. Quintana is a lower top 10 fighter at best, to lose to him once was poor.

Williams will become the Forrest of this WW era...
No one is gonna want to fight him until he either moves up in weight.
or someone else besides the Top names comes out of nowhere and blow's him out.
