If Cotto beats Tony, who else should he beat to be considered "ready" for Martinez?

Completey agree only way he'd be ready for martinez is if he beat manny, martinez is one of the beat boxers in the game and he would be prove very hard for cotto to pin down.

the sad thing is that martinez really deserves a money fight and he cant get it vs pac and may and arum will definitely not put cotto with him, it will be cintron-pac2

Hey, Cotto is p4p a better fighter than any one Martinez has beaten, but just like with Manny, p4p probably wouldn't likely mean ****. Sergio would tear his face open. He's too much for Cotto. It'd be a terrible career move, I suspect.

hes not at the best weight in terms of money fights, sturm is a solid resume win but not a money fight

and the weight above him is locked up in a tourney
maybe Bute but he isnt a ppv blockbuster and thats what Martinez wants

the two guys with the dollar signs are just too small for him

i think Cotto Martinez is just a bad match up if he beats Tony he can claim to be the man at 154

then he could fight Alvarez or Sergy D or K9 and unify

he either needs to lure cotto in or targer the super 6 vs bute/kessler winner at a catchweight. those are his best options im afraid. I would love to see manny or floyd vs sergio at 154 even if they would lose. I think it would be great fights.

I think Manny and Floyd have as good a shot as anybody to beat Martinez but I dont see either taking the gamble

Personally Id like to see Floyd go for it but at his age and inactivity i doubt it

The Margo rematch only makes sense, itll answer so many questions

Alvarez would be a great unification and a coming out party for Alvarez or a great win for Cotto

K9 I am becoming a big fan he pulls the upset and calls out everybody, i want somebody to take him on he has earned it

Sergey D yea he lost but he if he still has his WBO is the longest holder at the weight

I think he can only claim to be the best at 154 if he beats any of the names from the second part of your post. Margarito has not accomplished anything at 154 and I have no idea why he should currently be considered a relevant force in the division.

I think if Cotto wants to be totally vindicated he needs to beat Margo and prove hes better

after all the accusations and conspiracys and bs Cotto just needs to flat out beat him and prove a point

to me its almost like the Louis vs Schmelling effect your the champ but this guy who humiliated you took your 0 and KO'd you is floating around

and the fans are still curious to who the better man is
