If Cotto beats Tony, who else should he beat to be considered "ready" for Martinez?

I understand all of that, I'm just not willing to extend Margarito the benefit of the doubt compared to the rest of the division.

It did seem though that cotto was interested in this fight, right after mayorga he said he wasnt sure he would rematch margarito because if there were bigger options like a martinez fight for example he would like to look at it as well. If cotto beats margarito there will be a lot of attention and hype once again because he will ahve redeemed himself. Im affraid arum will dangle pac 2 in front of him to prevent a martinez match up though.

I think if Cotto wants to be totally vindicated he needs to beat Margo and prove hes better

after all the accusations and conspiracys and bs Cotto just needs to flat out beat him and prove a point

to me its almost like the Louis vs Schmelling effect your the champ but this guy who humiliated you took your 0 and KO'd you is floating around

and the fans are still curious to who the better man is

but after that he needs to unify

wow my internet is ****ed that posted like 5 times

i get that margo isnt a force in the division he didnt deserve a title fight vs Manny but in the case of Cotto it is vital

but to Alvarez and K9 and Sergey D he is not big

I think unless Margarito has nothing left at all following the beating he took vs Manny that he should win again

I mean Cotto could not hurt him, Cotto got broken down and succumbed to the pressure fighting style

I feel like if Cotto cant hurt you then he is in trouble

Manny, Clottey, and Margo all took his punches well and fired back and he went into retreat back peddle mode

I feel unless Cotto fights a very disciplined boxing match and Margarito is just a little too shot he can win

some how I feel like Cotto would let the crowd and drama and circumstance get to his head and he would brawl and it would be his undoing

Martinez has repeatedly stated that he can no longer make 154. He is a middleweight, and any middleweight who comes to the ring at 170 pounds like Martinez does is big for the division.

Cotto was a small welterweight, and he is damn near a midget at 154.

The fact that "boxing fans" are willing to support a Martinez/Cotto fight is disgraceful.

If Martinez wants money and recognition, he needs to grow some balls and call out Bute, or agree to meet Pavlik again at 166. Instead he calls out guys 2 or 3 divisions smaller than he is. Fans need to wake up and call this what it is; total bull****.

Its cause he wants the big bucks

Bute, Sturm, a Pavlik rematch would all be huge fights resume wise but cant get him the ppv draw of a Manny, Floyd, or Miguel

thats what he wants, he knows he is retiring soon and needs to get the big pay day he didnt get while fighting in obscurity early in his career

I wish sturm was worth millions cause that would be a great fight

Its true that there is a large size mismatch. I will note though that Cotto is a bigger draw in comparison to many of the other potential matches for Martinez.

I realize you're doing your boring anti-Martinez schtick here, but he has said repeatedly in recent interviews that he could make 154 for Floyd, Manny, and Cotto. He only denied being able to make 154 early after the Williams fight, and in interviews since then he's indicated he would go as low as 153.

Wait...weren't you bitching about Martinez not fighting a middleweight? Now you're saying if you come to the ring weighing 170, you're even big for a middleweight? Didn't Dzinziruk weigh 170 and Martinez 173 for their fight? Something like that? :think ...Did he fight not just a middleweight but a big middleweight at that then? :huh Boo...what's going on? ...Are you okay?

By no means does Cotto beat Martinez.

Cotto is 6 years younger than Martinez, but physically he's about 10 years older
