If Cotto, Canelo and Lee would ask GGG to fight him, he'd fight them in the same week

Idk. I'd say Ward feels pretty comfortable dropping 3 pounds if he was willing to go to 160 for Floyd Mayweather. If Ward doesn't feel comfortable dropping 3 pounds to get to 168, then we shouldn't even be discussing a GGG/Ward fight in the first place. However, I think he can easily fight at 168 one more time and maybe even get to 164... especially given a whole year.

If Ward isn't a PPV fight and doesn't offer anything, then Golovkin should feel free to dictate terms. He's clearly A-side. If Ward doesn't like the catchweight, then he can negotiate (though he doesn't have much power), but answering the phone is a start.

    • He never intended to fight Mayweather at 160. Talk is cheap.
    • Dropping 3 lbs to get to 168? I was referring to 3 lbs FROM 168. Ward vs Kovalev is more realistic and more competitive IMO.
    • Golovkin dictating terms because he's the A-side is fine, but unnecessary weights is not fine. He'd be fighting Ward at a catchweight for NO REASON other then to drain him. And I wouldn't have a problem if he wasn't trying to fight Froch and Chavez Jr at 168. A-side is irrelevant. If he can make weight or has no problem with 168 against them, he shouldn't have it against Ward.

It has everything to do with unifying the division. These are his goals from most important to least important which he has said thousands of times.

    Goal 1: Unify the division
    Goal 2: PPV fight (160 or 168 )
    Goal 3: 168 fights

Goals 1 and 2 are always going to trump goal 3 until completed. Now, a PPV fight and 168 fight can go together but it has to be a PPV fight or at least financially make a lot of sense. Ward is goal 3. The least important goal until GGG achieves the two before it. Ward doesn't offer anything other than being a fight for the fans.

GGG is not going to go all the way up to 168 right now unless goal 2 is involved, especially when he can already achieve more important goals 1 and 2 at the weight he's at!!! Which once again- is significantly more important to him.

Once he unifies 160, once he gets a PPV fight, then, goal 3 stands by itself and he will turn his entire focus on it.

For him, fighting at 168 starts with being the undisputed MW champion. He will fight at 168 but AFTER he completes the two more important goals before it (unless, like I said, he can achieve goal 2 with someone at 168 ).

Again, that's perfectly OK. But NOTHING makes the 164 lbs catchweight OK. If Ward isn't a big enough money fight for him, just say that. Don't throw out random catch weights just for the **** of it. You see where I'm coming from?

My point is, in my opinion, the 164 lbs catchweight was a way to avoid a fight that's not worth it to him at this point in time. I have no issues with him not wanting to fight Ward out of business decisions, I just don't like when people dress it up as something else.

Yes, I do. I don't like catch-weights either; however, I see Golovkin's point in asking for it : He's not going to sidestep goals 1 and 2 for Ward or any other non-ppv 168 fighter. So, if they want him, they can meet him halfway. If they can do it then do it and if they can't, then be quiet and wait until goals 1 and 2 are completed.

I can agree with this. Neither of them are obligated to fight each other at this time and it doesn't look like they'll reach an agreement.

I don't believe that either of them are ducking, by the way.

Except Loeffler made it CRYSTAL FUKKING CLEAR that 164 CW was just a starting point, and the ONLY nonnegotiable A side demands were
    1. Venue to maximize revenue.
    2. $8 mil if GGG were to concede to 168.
    3. 180 lb rehydration clause
    4. VADA TESTING paid for by k2.

You think GGG would lose, even at 164????

What referees would allow ward to grapple and headbutt for 12 rds while 21k BOOING NEW YORKERS booed in disdain.

GGG late KO at 164/166, GGG 116/110 @168.
