If Cotto can't be Trout, why does he think he can beat Martinez @ 160?

Size matters both are not in their primes so the bigger man wins.

Theoretically Sergio will be worse than ever before... after injuries and the layoff especially.

As for Cotto; new trainer plays a big role I'm sure even if it's false confidence, the 4th title in 4 divisions is big to him obviously, wants to cash out before retirement and in interviews I've read his plan doesn't include fighting til he's 40.

You really don't know ****. Chavez jr. was over 180 lbs and could not get to Martinez. Cotto is a small JMW as it is. No disrespect to cotto but he isn't exactly the most elusive guy out there. What's he gonna do? really tell me? He can't box Martinez on the outside. Like I said he's going to have to come at Martinez to have a chance. How is cotto going to be able to avoid Martinez puches? **** he could not even impose himself on a light puncher like trout, trout was too big and strong and yet he's going to be able to compete a guy 1 weightclass above?

Martinez is going to ****in love hitting a guy as small as cotto after fighting bigger guys like chavez, pavlik, Lee etc for a while now. I see Martinez stopping cotto and I like cotto.

Valid question. On paper, Martinez is a terrible matchup for Cotto, but Sergio is coming off multiple injuries and a long layoff...not to mention he's 40 years old. Noone is quite sure whether Martinez will be 100 %(or even close to it) by June and that alone makes this an intriguing matchup.

I agree Cotto is in way over his head. Perhaps he knows from his past couple of fights that he doesn't have it anymore is going for one last title to add to his legacy. But as others have mentioned, Cotto is no duck. Martinez will have to have regressed even more than he had at the time of the Murray fight for Cotto to anything close to a chance.

If Cotto has regressed even further than he had by the Murray fight a score of 7-5 or 8-4 Martinez is probable.

If Martinez has regressed no further but hasn't returned to form either 8-4 or 9-3 Martinez. Stoppage possible.

If Martinez somehow returns to his pre-Murray form 10-2 to shutout. Stoppage likely.

Speed. Cotto has the most speed Sergio has seen since... since... what, Dzinziruk? Cintron? Been a while. A war torn Martinez will struggle with a hungry Cotto.

OP u have overlooked the situation.

cotto underestimated trout.thats the only reason trout won.

cotto will not do the same with martinez.
plus he has the trout fight as a medium.

    cotto will shock the world.

Keep thinking that buddy, unless Martinez is completely washed up, Cotto will lose every second of every round of this fight.

    Cotto by decision.

Martinez can go back to speaking in that phony accent and thinking he is better than Cotto. Apparently Martinez is still sore at Cotto because back in 2008 when Martinez blessed Cotto with his aristocratic Argentinean presence, Cotto did not acknowledge him. How dare a lowly brown man not salute a pasty Argentine?? The superiority complex so evident in Sergio will be beaten out of him. Not a fan of that leg crossing pseudo euro culture.

Fckin soap opera bullshet from Martinez. I hope Cotto punishes him for thinking like such a woman.
